Highlights
  • Chinatown - Bangkok - Starting in the heart of Chinatown, our bike ride explores its frenetic market environment. Winding through narrow alleyways, our senses come alive with the sights, sounds, and smells of a community in motion. We’ll pass by shophouses selling everything from Buddhist amulets to recycled truck engines. Locals worshiping at hidden temples, ritual paper burnings, and the omnipresent spirit house display evidence of a culture centuries in the making.

Best way to see hidden Bangkok! - Highly recommend Co Van Kessell's terrific 5-hour combo bike and canal boat tour! A great way to see the "other side" of Bangkok, mostly back streets, alleys and some parkland, but we also hit Wat Samphothawangsaram (aka Wat Ko), a very old Buddhist temple with a huge sitting Buddha inside. The bikes are solid, the ride easy, and our guides Nancy and Katty were awesome!

A great way to explore the city! - Such a nice way to explore the city! The guide was friendly, the tour interesting and the bikes were fine. The speed was not very high so we had enough time to see everything along the way. Definitely value for money.

Biking tour - Guides were fun, answered all our questions. Biking was easy. Loved that we stopped at a local store. We stopped at a Wat were she really explained a lot about the religion and customs.

Great tour pity about the tourists! - Loved riding through the laneways and back streets on this tour. I found the young tourists in skimpy clothing shouting conversations with each other on my tour annoying though especially riding through small streets where people live. Maybe a smaller group would have suited me better.

Nice bike tour through the real Bangkok - Co van Kessel is a very professional organization. From booking until arriving and getting ready for the bike tour: it's all very nicely organized. Bikes are good - specifically for the task: expect to drive very calmly through neighbourhood allies, markets and small streets. A little bit of a downside: i experienced the winding through narrow allies with sharp bends as going very slow. Also, driving through busy and narrow market streets is not that much fun. In the past I did another bike tour through more natural neighbourhoods ("bush") which I thought was great fun too. Guides are very good and helpful - explain the right level of detail, and do also not talk too much. I would skip visiting a temple as part of the tour as I go visit enough temples already... but this is again just my personal opinion. All in all I would certainly recommend going on a guided your with Co van Kessel!

Great for an afternoon - Overall, would recommend! However, I don't think it's necessary to cycle through China Town and disturb everyone trying to work. For the most part, we were stuck behind delivery trucks. Also, the last ten minutes was very invasive and absolutely should be removed from the tour. Rich foreign people ride bikes through shanty town? Let's leave the woman trying to shower in peace. Please remove this part from your tour. Our guides was absolutely lovely though and other than the aforementioned above, it's great and well-worth the money. Very safe, too.

Group is too BIG - no commentary on history or points of interest. Disappointing - We love a bike and have been doing them in almost every city we’ve visited in the last 18 years. This tour has been the most disappointing of the tours we’ve done. Good things about the tour: 1. The bikes are fine and yellow so not hard to miss on the busy streets of Bangkok 2. Plenty of water provided 3. Boat ride was nice Disappointing things about the tour: 1. The groups are too big - we had 15 on our tour. 2. Lots of aimless riding without really knowing where you are riding to or for how long 3. No commentary on history or points of interest 4. The ride is mostly through alley ways and looking at the back of people's houses, it's not really the back streets of Bangkok. 5. 3 obnoxiously loud Dutchman who should have been given their own tour guide - as they managed to annoy almost everyone on the tour even their own Dutch people
