Additional Information

This expedition takes your team to the lesser-known and less accessible corners of Yellowstone. We can customize your tour to include a few well-known sights if desired.

This expedition won’t take you to frequented spots like Old Faithful or other tourist hotspots. Instead, we’ll escort you to zones that expose your friends or family to the concealed gems of Yellowstone. By steering clear of the popular spots, we’ll have extra time for exploration and meandering off the standard tourist trails. We’ll lead several treks to undiscovered waterfalls, hidden lakes, picturesque panoramas, secret geysers, mud pots, hot springs, and observe plenty of wildlife. On our tour, our priority is to position your team best to watch wildlife safely. A picnic-style lunch from a local bakery awaits us at lunchtime in a remote and picturesque setting. We’ll direct you through the park with minimum interactions with other tourists because we’ll take you to the secluded side of Yellowstone!

A must do - hire a guide - We highly recommend booking this private tour. We did two days. Our guide, Jeremy knew the best places to go. We saw a grizzly, bison, red fox, mountain goats, pronghorn and elk. We missed a pack of 6 wolves by 30 minutes. We had a private lunch w/picnic table, on a lake surrounded by fir trees.Jeremy was knowledgeable about locations, geography, animal behavior, good identify all the birds & kept us at the proper distance to view animals. Jeremy could spot animals quickly. We were set up to photograph mountain goats w/tripod & Jermey spotted a red fox behind us & across the road. The vehicle was comfortable, food & snacks & drinks were quite good. Having a guide is worth every penny even if you need to hold off your visit to save up for it. If this doesn't convince you, these guides know the best restrooms around the park. If you can go in October!

Excellent - This tour was absolutely worth it. Jeremy was a wealth of knowledge on geology, wildlife, history, etc. and we loved every spot he chose. We were so excited to be away from crowds. It was the absolute perfect balance of walking, wildlife viewing and resting in the car. There was a wealth of snacks and drinks and if we have the pleasure of returning to Yellowstone this would be the first tour we booked again.

The Perfect Tour of Yellowstone - Yellowstone Adventure Tours was my family's best decision during our Yellowstone vacation! We spent an entire day with Derek who showed us around the park and gave an absolute masterclass of a tour: 1.) His insights into the ecology and history of the park were expert-level. 2.) The off-the-beaten-path vantage points and experiences of both highly trafficked park features (e.g., Old Faithful) and others, that weren't initially on our radar, were a delight. 3.) Animals — we saw all of them! 4.) A delicious lunch, snacks, and drinks were provided throughout the day. 5.) Restrooms — he knew the closest and cleanest ones at all times. I couldn't recommend Yellowstone Adventure Tours enough!

Highlight of our Yellowstone adventure! - There’s a lot of five stars for this tour operator and you would maybe say to yourself, these are fake reviews. Take the chance because Yellowstone Adventure Tours has earned all their stars fairly. We booked a private “Hidden Gems” tour for five for Monday, August 14, 2022, thinking we could hit all the top tourist spots ourselves but would never be able to find a days worth of hidden gems. Derek was timely in texting us a meeting time and place and was prompt on picking us up in a very clean Chevy Suburban at 7:15am to start our day. He brought sandwiches, snacks, water and an array of sodas with him. My daughter is gluten free and she received a sandwich with amazing gluten free bread. Not only that but he surprised her with a gluten free chocolate chip cookie at lunch! (Picnicking at another hidden gem with an amazing view). Derek asked us what we wanted to see, being completely open to whatever we wanted to see. We asked for his Hidden Gems tour. The tour started off with a bang when Derek somehow spotted porcupine and we got to see it up climb up a tree, the phot buffs in the group taking pictures the whole time. The rest of the day was like that, great spots only tour guides know, great pictures, lots of bison and elk AND a porcupine, geysers spouting, lots of interesting facts about the park, geological stuff and animals. And timely bathroom stops with flush toilets! Take the time to tour with Yellowstone Adventure Tours because you will get your money’s worth, a courteous, fun and knowledgeable guide (and great driver), an amazing day at Yellowstone, and not the least, a comfortable vehicle to experience it in.

TAKE THIS TOUR! - It is difficult to even pick a favorite part of our tour! We saw so many great things. Derek knew exactly what to show us never having been there before and only having one day to see it. His timing for the whole day was SPOT ON. His knowledge and passion for the park were incredible! He was also just a pleasure to be with. We would highly recommend this company to anyone interested in visiting Yellowstone!

Terrific Vision of Yellowstone - Derek was amazing as a guide. He picked us up in Big Sky at our condo and had lunch ready for pick up before entering the park. Going early was key as we got to see the main places before crowds arrived. The geological information was awesome. We could NEVER have known where to go or sights to see without a guide. Unfortunately the wildlife was up in the hills due to it being summer. We understand they are prolific in the winter. There was a car vs bike accident that tied up traffic and Derek quickly detoured and took us on a great walk/hike. Otherwise, we’d have been sitting in the traffic jam. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our 12 hour sojourn

Awesome Yellowstone tour with Derek - OMG! What a wonderful tour of Yellowstone! My husband, myself, brother-in-law and sister-in-law were first time visitors and felt an expert could enlighten our adventure. Derek with Adventure Tours was perfect!!! Besides being so knowledgeable, he was pleasant, funny, and flexible for our abilities. We got to see and learn about Old Faithful, Fountain Paint Pots, bubbling mud, Inspiration Point/falls, Pumace Point, Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Harlequin ducks at Lee Hardy Rapids, bison, elk, osprey, 2 historic hotels, delicious picnic lunch, and an icy lake. We took lots of pictures and because of our guide, Derek, had a very pleasant and memorable day. Money well spent! Derek even helped us plan our next couple of days seeing other areas without him. Thank you Derek and Adventure Tours!

Snow Coach in Yellowstone is a MUST! - Our guide, John Clark, was absolutely amazing. He was extremely knowledgeable about the park and it’s history as well as the animals. He was funny and also very informative plus very willing to accommodate anything we needed. The snow coach tour in winter is a MUST! John just made it that much more incredible! Only critique, the website needs to add more as to why to wear! The coach was very comfortable but we were so layered and had extra as we didn’t know the temperature on the coach, it is heated but low as to keep the windows from freezing. Finding that info more easily would have been wonderful!
