Meerkat Experience!! - We've visited Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World a few times before, and each time was as special as the first, food is great taste and price wise, animals healthy and happy and the park/play area is great for all ages. On this occasion we had the Meerkat experience and it certainly didn't disappoint. Thankyou to our guide/keeper Jodie who was brilliant and the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Kids aged 10 and 13
Will be returning when the littlest one turns 6 to do it all again.

Great value day out for young and old! - A superb day out for families or people of any age! Great value for money, with plenty to do. The dinosaur woodland walk is spectacular and absolutely excellent for kids. The dino-filled, Jurassic Park style scene at the end is breathtaking!
The zoo’s animals appear to be well-cared for and there is a really interesting variety of life from the natural world. Some species are rescue animals, seeing out their days at Hoo.
Staff are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and extremely helpful.
There are plenty of places to picnic if you want to keep costs down but there is a cafe on site too.
The kids’ play area is thoughtfully planned out and well-presented with some ‘different’ play equipment. There are lots of interactive activities around the zoo such as a fossil dig and ‘climb like a lemur’ rocks.
There are toilets and baby change facilities near the zoo entrance and further facilities in the zoo.
Top tip: The mouse lemurs are elusive in their dark enclosure but keep trying when you pass by. Our fifth attempt rewarded us with a peek at this super-cute animal.

Brilliant Experience! - We had a wonderful time at the Zoo. My partner and I loved the experience. We were able to feed some of the animals and we truly enjoyed our time in the Hoo-rassic World with the dinosaurs. We are definitely planning to come back as it is quite local for us! Brilliant experience!

A place to make beautiful memories. - I think I have been 3 or 4 times in the last 12 months with my daughter. I simply cannot express how fantastic this place is. The staff are super friendly and clearly both know and enjoy what they're doing. It's great to see a place such as this not just running away with profits but clearly reinvesting back into the place and it shows. The vibe and atmosphere here is great. This time around, we went to their "princess" day and my daughter absolutely loved it! The animals here are also clearly cared for and there are never any signs of distress amongst them. I have no doubt I'll be returning many more times.
Beware the Dinosaurs!

A definite must for animal lovers - A range of ages in our group from 7yrs - 72 yrs and all enjoyed our day out, we all loved how close we were to all the animals, would advise a whole day there, kids loved feeding a large group of different animals, the animals are really gentle, happy and healthy, plenty of hand washing stations, I have nothing bad to say about the zoo or the workers, friendly, helpful and very happy to chat about all animals, will be returning with more family in the summer and I can’t wait.

Absolutely amazing! - Came to Hoo Zoo with my partner for the Meerkat experience. I could see the animals were incredibly well taken care of, the keepers were passionate about their job, and there was an interactive element unlike any zoo I’ve been to before- I touched meerkats, a snake, a skunk and a reptile, and I was able to walk amongst lemurs, wallabies and peacocks. The talks were very fascinating. I’ll definitely be coming back!

A great value way spend a day. - We've already done a couple of experiences at Hoo Zoo so we knew jut how good they were and Meerkat encounter didn't disappoint. It includes entry to the park itself and it well worth giving yourself a couple of hours before, or after to have a proper look around. There's plenty to do for adults and kids. A big play park, a nice picnic area (undercover for the British weather), Animal talks through the day, and the activity shed where there seems to be all sorts going on.
We found that unlike some larger zoos the animals seem to be more "on show" and not sitting in huts. The likes of the Fox enclosures are not sterile and very tidily and neatly kept, they are quite wild in keeping with natural habitat of the animals. It's also worth noting that many of the animals have been rescued or were unwanted pets and the staff do a super job rehabilitating them. (Sad to hear about Zeus, the 3 legged Fox who passed recently)
The staff are very informative and genuinely look as if they enjoy their jobs. Credit to the young man who was only in his second week working at the zoo after initially being a volunteer. Alex, our guide was very friendly and was happy to answer any questions about the meerkats (in fact any of the animals)
A lovely day and very reasonably priced. Can't wait to return soon for the Carnivore Combo (Get them bigger gloves ready Alex!) Thanks

A great day had by all! - I really wasn't sure what to expect as I have a 16 and 13 year old and from what I could see on the website it's designed for younger children. However we had a great day and I needn't have worried. To be completely clear, I got the tickets free through a membership scheme I'm part of, so wasn't too concerned if we only spent a couple of hours here. We arrived at 10:30am and eventually left at 4pm! We only did one thing twice, which was feed the wallabies! Getting in was quick and easy despite it being busy, parking was fine and free. The app is great as it alerts you to the next thing happening and because it's compact, you are never more than a few minutes walk from whatever is happening! They have a multitude of talks and feeds on all the animals and the keepers are patient and knowledgeable. We even got to meet a skunk and a royal python up close and personal 😊 and were able to hand feed the wallabies. The kids were entertained all day despite them being older and all in all we loved it. Even the dinosaur stuff, that I thought would be too young for my kids, was interesting and realistic. Many of these exhibits can be naff and stop working and become worn, but the woodland walk through all the different dinosaurs is actually interesting with loads of interesting information and the noises and movement is quite realistic and creepy 😂. I would recommend taking your own picnic if you don't want to spend loads of money on food. There's loads of undercover picnic areas and even indoor places to eat you own food if it's cool. Your average burger chips and drink from the take out was heading towards £12 per person, which is not unusual in this day and age, but gets pricey if there's 4 of you. To be fair they do do jacket potatoes for around £6.50 with a couple of toppings and a cola included, which my son had and said was really nice. All in all a fab day out.

Great day out for a 5-year old - It’s a nice park but it is really expensive for what it is. However this was my sons favourite thing we did the day we did it so that for me was worth it.

Disappointing experience - We arrived and the woman on the till was quite rude and said we are full and you should have pre-booked. She said it's been all over Facebook that we've sold out, we said we hadn't seen that as we hadn't looked on Facebook. We went back to the car and was able to book a ticket online, even thought she was adamant they were at full capacity, went back to the reception and let her know that she'd said they were full even though we'd been able to book, her response was "well I ent done it on purpose, if you've got a problem with it here's a leaflet with the email address for you to complain" very rude and shouldn't be in a customer facing role! Overall, the zoo was OK, some nice animals and the play area was good fun. The toilets weren't the cleanest, although there were plenty of sinks across the park to wash hands. Probably wouldn't return as felt it wasn't value for money. Other staff we came across were polite and helpful and it's a shame that the zoo was let down by one member of staff who would benefit from customer service training.
