- Church of the Nativity - “The Church of the Nativity, also known as the Basilica of the Nativity, is a basilica situated in Bethlehem. The grotto within holds significant religious importance for Christians of various denominations as the birthplace of Jesus. It is the oldest site continuously used for worship in Christianity, and the basilica is the oldest major church in the Holy Land.”
- St. George’s Monastery - “The Monastery of Saint George of Choziba, also referred to as the Monastery of Choziba (or Hoziba) or Mar Jaris, is located in Wadi Qelt. This cliff-hanging complex, which originated from a lavra established in the 420s and was reorganized as a monastery around AD 500, features an ancient chapel and irrigated gardens. It is active and inhabited by Greek Orthodox monks, housing the relics of Saint George of Choziba, after whom the monastery is named, as well as the relics of Saint John of Choziba.”
- Mount of Temptation Monastery - “The Mount of Temptation is believed to be the location of part of the Temptation of Jesus as described in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke in the New Testament, where the Devil took Jesus to a ‘high mountain’ and offered him dominion over all the kingdoms of the world.”
- Shepherd’s Sanctuary - “The Shepherds’ Field Chapel, also known as the Sanctuary of the Gloria in excelsis Deo, is dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima and St. Theresa of Lisieux. This Roman Catholic religious building is located in Beit Sahour, southeast of Bethlehem. The chapel commemorates the place where, according to Catholic tradition, angels first announced the birth of Christ.”
- Bethlehem - “Bethlehem is the birthplace of Christianity, home to the Church of the Nativity, which contains an underground cave where Christians believe Mary gave birth to Jesus in a stable. A 14-pointed silver star beneath an altar marks the spot, and the stone church is a significant pilgrimage site for both Christians and Muslims.”
- Mar Saba Monastery - “The Holy Lavra of Saint Sabbas is a Greek Orthodox monastery overlooking the Kidron Valley, located halfway between Bethlehem and the Dead Sea. The monks of Mar Saba and its subsidiary houses are known as Sabaites. Mar Saba is one of the oldest continuously inhabited monasteries in the world, preserving many of its ancient traditions.”

- Milk Grotto - “The Chapel of the Milk Grotto of Our Lady, also known as the Grotto of Our Lady or Milk Grotto, is a Catholic chapel in Bethlehem, built in 1872. Since Byzantine times, it has been a center of Christian pilgrimage. According to Christian tradition, this is where the Holy Family sought refuge during the Massacre of the Innocents before fleeing to Egypt. The name comes from the story that a ‘drop of milk’ from the Virgin Mary fell on the cave floor, turning it white. The site, which includes three different caves, is visited by some hoping for healing of infertile couples, with the shrine reputedly being a place where prayers for children are miraculously answered.”
- Cave of St. Jerome - “Located among a network of subterranean chambers beneath the Church of Nativity, this is where, in the late 4th century, Saint Jerome dedicated 30 years of his life to translating the Hebrew and Greek bibles into Latin.”
- Tomb of Rachel (Kever Rachel) - “Rachel’s Tomb is revered as the burial site of the Biblical matriarch Rachel. It is respected by Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike. The tomb, situated at the northern entrance of Bethlehem, is constructed in the style of a traditional maqam, which is Arabic for shrine.”
- Tel es-Sultan - “Tell es-Sultan, also known as Tel Jericho or Ancient Jericho, is a UNESCO-nominated archaeological site in the West Bank, located near the Ein as-Sultan refugee camp, two kilometers north of Jericho’s center. Inhabited since the 10th millennium BCE, it is often referred to as ‘the oldest town in the world,’ with numerous significant archaeological discoveries. The site is also notable for its contribution to the history of Levantine archaeology.”
