Discover the Scenic Wonders of Fiordland
On May 4th, the weather takes a turn for the better, offering a cool, dry day with a mix of sun and clouds. It’s the perfect opportunity to embark on an unforgettable outdoor exploration. Begin your day with the Doubtful Sound Day Cruise, a full-day excursion that takes you deep into the heart of Fiordland National Park. Departing at 10:00 AM, this cruise offers a unique opportunity to witness the untouched beauty of Doubtful Sound.
As you cruise through the expansive waterways, you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking scenery and the chance to spot wildlife such as bottlenose dolphins and fur seals. The highlight of the journey is the “Sound of Silence,” a moment when the ship’s engines are turned off, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the serene sounds of nature. This experience is a testament to the power of conservation and the importance of preserving these pristine environments for future generations.
“A great experience - This is a very nice tour to do. The boat trip across the lake was very good and the bus ride over the mountain pass was nice. The highlight is the boat trip in Doubtful Sound which is beautiful. It is wider than Milford Sound so the scale is difficult to appreciate as you are not so close to the mountains, but it is very peaceful and quiet as there are not all the boats and helicopters etc. that there are in Milford Sound. We saw fur seals basking on the rocks at the mouth of the Sound and the best part was when the engines were turned off and we got to listen to the silence out on the water, broken only by the sound of a waterfall and birdsong. A great experience.” - Reviewed on 2025-03-03

As you sip on complimentary coffee and tea, you’ll be treated to live commentary from the knowledgeable skipper, who will share insights into the history and natural wonders of Milford Sound.
“Cruise Mildford small boat and amazing experience!!! - This is the company you want to take the Milford Sound cruise with. Small boat, amazing Captain Roger! With a small boat he got us up close to the Dolphins and Fur Seals, and right into the water fall! His narration was perfect. Small boat the Explorers, top deck, back and awesome front access!!!! Make sure you take a morning cruise to beat the traffic in and out of the Milford Sound. Cruise Mildord highly recommended!!!!!!!” - Reviewed on 2025-04-28
