Highlights
  • Jinvali Water Reservoir - Good place to stay. Clear and blue water. There is everything for water entertainment - boats, jet skis, boats, catamarans. Good gazebos. Very cute

We stop for 20 minutes for a photo stop, In these 20 minutes you can have a cup of coffee and enjoy the beautiful scenery

  • Ananuri - It is believed that the Ananuri fortress was founded in the 16th century. In the first half of the 19th century, a Russian garrison was located here, which guarded the Georgian Military Highway. And in 1829 the fortress was visited by A.S. Pushkin during his trip to Georgia. Currently, the fortress is open to everyone. Entrance to the territory is free. There are two temples on the territory of the fortress, but for us the most interesting were the fortress walls and towers, which you could climb
  • Pasanauri - Fasanauri is the center of the historical and geographical region of Mtiuleti. According to legend, this place was one of the centers of trade in ancient times. It was this fact that caused its name, probably associated with the word “price”.
  • Gudauri - Gudauri is a village, a small tourism center and a ski resort located on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus Range in the Kazbegi municipality of Georgia, on the Georgian Military Highway, not far from the Cross Pass at an altitude of 2150 m above sea level.
  • Stepantsminda - Clean, clear air, long rainy days are favorable conditions for climatotherapy for respiratory diseases, as well as for preventive measures.
  • Mkinvartsveri - Mount Kazbek is the second highest mountain peak in Georgia, with a height of 5033 meters (there is also information that it is 5047 meters). But in 2019, the last height measurements were taken. It turned out that the height of Kazbek is 5054m. Majestic and covered with secrets and legends. It is not always possible to see this beautiful, but at the same time, “with character” mountain, they say that it hides behind clouds from people with a bad aura! The mountain can be seen already arriving in the village. Gergeti Church at an altitude of 2170m, which is considered the highest building in Europe, and is also a place of special beauty and indescribable sensations. From the central square of the village in winter, you can take a jeep up

Long day, lots of stops - This is a full day trip, we were out over 12 hours. Lots of stops on the way, first the reservoir, then Ananauri fortress, then the black and white river, then a stop to take pictures and buy honey, then through Gudauri and on to Kazbegi, Stepantsminda and Gergeti monastery with a final stop at the Russia Georgia friendship memorial. The monastery is accessed by a different vehicle and costs 20 lari, you don’t have to go up to it if you don’t want. Take plenty of food and drink with you and warm clothes, wear sensible footwear. Most of the places you stop at have toilet facilities, some are nicer than others. The downside of this trip is that the road to Kazbegi gets closed to allow trucks to pass through the mountain tunnels. If this happens, be prepared for a lengthy delay. We were stuck for an hour and a half. Guide was knowledgeable and spoke excellent English, the vehicle was decent and comfortable. The meeting point in Tbilisi is a bit chaotic, just go to the square at the bottom of Kote Afkazi street where the buses pick up, tell them where you are going and who with and they will direct you. We set off at 9am and got back at 9.30pm. Overall a good day, albeit a long one.

Convenient Day Trip from Tbilisi - Jimmy was a great guide who really brought this day trip to life. It’s a convenient trip from the capital to see some gorgeous Mountain Views, alpine lakes, and scenic photo spots. Jimmy is a great photographer too. The driver was also very friendly and we played games in the car on the way back to pass the time, plus everyone got to pick a song to represent their culture! Super interesting and made the drive seem so much faster! Jimmy also helped me when there was a mixup with my order in the restaurant, and if you run out of local currency he can just pay for you at these little shops and then you can go to an ATM to pay him after the trip. All in all a great day!
