History and sightseeing - This is a fantastic way to learn some of the history of the city ancient and more recent and to see how the city is evolving. Entrance is 5 euro for adults and that is great value. A must do when visiting Tavira

Excellent introduction to Tavira - Excellent visit to this tower adjacent to the castle ruins, situated in an old water tower. Very reasonable rates, and one of the best 'waiting areas' of any attraction! Plush armchairs, air conditioned comfort. Might have been nice to have a drinks machine to grab a coffee or cold drink while waiting? Access to the actual viewing table at the top of the tower is either an open staircase if you're brave, or a six-person lift. The guide was clearly very knowledgeable about the buildings in the town, and its history, and we had effectively a whistle-stop tour of Tavira. He checked nationalities of the group (we were all English mother-tongue) so maybe he did spend a little too much time on anecdotes, but I imagine that these get cut out when he has to use different languages throughout. He was very humorous and we didn't feel rushed at any time. Only criticism is that it would have been good to have a little more information about how the camera actually worked, with maybe a simple tabletop demonstration. Quite unbelievable how good the quality of the image was; you can see individual people walking in the street, washing flapping on washing lines. And how the machine needed just the slightest of adjustments to bring things into sharp focus.

It’s great value for money and we enjoyed it as adults but I can only imagine how much kids would love it ! Our guide/ host was super experienced and knowledgeable but also hilarious! Tavira from above - One of the highlights of Tavira. It's worth the climb and the wait since visits are limited to around 20 people at a time. The guide gave descriptions in several languages with humorous commentary.

Panoramic view of Tavira - Well worth a visit, interesting old lense technique, gives you a great panoramic view of the city and on top of that a knowledgeable guide.

Camera Obscura - See Tavira from a different perspective. - A very interesting, informative and different experience. We were guided around a live projection of Tavira by Clive. He was able to meld history with location across the city, he told us things we didn't know. Our visitors from abroad, our local friends and us, all found it amazing.

Great potential, but... - This could be a brilliant experience but unfortunately the guide ruined it. He spent far too long talking about 'naughty activities' people get up to - which he watches through his camera obscura and then tells visitors about - it was all very uncomfortable and creepy tbh. On a practical level it also meant he rushed through the rest of the presentation, didn't explain how the camera obscura works at all and then rushed off at the end. Ugh, left us feeling a bit grubby. Time for the guide to retire I think.

Disgruntled and out of pocket - I booked and paid online but when I got there there was a notice saying the Tower was closed for maintenance. Why dk they not take the booking option off the website if its closed. I tried to phone but no answer so I've emailed but no answer yet. If you go dont pay beforehand and check it's open.

Slightly odd - Good value I guess as €5 each and concept was good, interesting way to see Tavira. Unfortunately the guide was slightly missing the tone with his humour, he made lots of inappropriate jokes which were not ok to be honest in this day and age (sexist & pointing out the spots where people do ‘Thai chi’)- especially as meant for children too..! This really put a down on the Tavira eye, wouldn’t return because of this. (Family trip, but we are grown up not teens)
