Beautiful scenic tour for the glow worms and stars - Beautiful evening kayak, seeing the glow worms and then kayaking back seeing the stars come out was beautiful. Highly recommend. Would book again.

Absolute highlight in New Zealand – unforgettable kayak tour with fireflies - Our kayak tour in Tauranga was an unforgettable experience and definitely one of the highlights of our New Zealand holiday! The start at Base Camp was already well organised – after registration we took a small coach to McLaren Falls Park, where the tour began. There we were welcomed with small snacks and drinks, while the guides gave a detailed introduction to the equipment. From life jackets to spray blankets to the right paddle technique – everything was explained in an understandable and patient way. The drive across the lake was just magical. At dusk we paddled through impressive nature, saw ducks and pristine landscapes, while the starry sky shone overhead. The absolute highlight was the firefly cave. The guides carefully maneuvered us into a narrow ravine where we could observe hundreds of glowing fireflies in the dark – an atmosphere like from another world! The guides explained vividly how the fireflies live and glow, which made the experience even more impressive. After about 10-15 minutes in the cave we paddled back to the starting point, still surrounded by the nighttime soundscape of New Zealand – just magical! Conclusion: This tour is an absolute must for any New Zealand traveler! The guides were super friendly and competent, the organization perfect, and no prior knowledge is required. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced paddler – everyone can participate and enjoy this nature experience. We give 5 out of 5 stars and would book the tour again immediately!

Fun kayaking adventure to glow worm caves - My husband and I had a fantastic time on this adventure. Both Leo and Lucas were great! Lucas especially did a great job pulling 3 kayaks (ours included) thru some difficult water with a broken rutter , we all were laughing and cheering him on, and he was professional and took it all in stride. It made our night! Well done.

This trip was the highlight of our month in New Zealand - Craig was friendly and knowledgeable in the evening run really smoothly. We enjoyed the barbecue and the hot pool. Going in the clown caves was magical and it was great to hear the Māori story. we were lucky to have such a clear sky evening and Craig spent time identifying stars and constellations… Magical evening

Amazing experience - Tom and Tiff were fantastic guides! My wife and I had only kayaked once before and they made us feel very comfortable on the water. The glowworm caves were spectacular and our guides were able to give us all the background information on the worms and area. Truly a must see!

Must do! - This was such a unique experience and a must do! Luckily we had perfect weather as well so not only were the glow worms amazing, but we had a beautiful sunset while kayaking and could see the milky way once it was dark so to the remoteness of the area. Ellie was a fantastic guide :)

Fabulous experience on our evening kayak to see gloworms. - We are a fantastic time on our evening kayak tour. The gloworms were spectacular. Our guides Leo and Lucy were very informative and looked after us really well. This has been a highlight of our NZ trip.

We enjoyed this! No... - We enjoyed this! No alcoholic drink or sunset to start with but the kayak trip to see the glow worms was cool.

Maybe for younger adventurers? - So there is quite a bit of paddling in the dark (maybe a mile?) to and from the cave, which was more than we were expecting. There was only one tour guide for the group to follow, which added to uneasiness, and she was having difficulty with tranporting us to the put-in site with their standard transmission van. All of my clothes were sopping wet at the end of the excursion, despite using the protective skirting provided, and it was pretty cold. Wish I had brought a change of clothes. The other guests really seemed to enjoy it but at our age (60-70 y/o), it was a little much. Didn't get back to lodging in Cambridge until after midnight (on dark curvy roads), so check a map and plan accordingly.
