Sponge diving and the Greek community in Tarpon Springs - This was a first-rate experience and great way to learn the history of Tarpon Springs and the creation/development of the Greek community. Krisula is an excellent guide and her Greek heritage, an added asset. We went to the Greek section of town and inside the church. En route back to the docks, we were treated to a tasty Greek pastry and coffee. Her dialogue included descriptions of the dangerous conditions under which the early divers worked and why, even with the safety features now in place, sponge diving is still risky.
