After a leisurely journey through the Souss valley, pausing briefly to observe the infamous Argan tree climbing goats, we arrive at the ancient fortified city of Taroudant, also known as ‘mini Marrakesh’. Located beneath the towering Atlas mountains lies this welcoming Berber settlement. Taroudant, situated 80km from Agadir, offers exploration of the 16th century Saadian Empire capital. Post a brief exploration of Taroudant’s modest, traditional market and an ascent to the fortified walls that offer breathtaking views of the encompassing landscape, we journey towards the Oasis and Tiout Kasbah (a type of fortress). At the Kasbah, a delicious meal awaits. Following lunch, we take a peaceful walk amongst the palm trees with a donkey ride, circling the Kasbah— film location for the 1950s movie of Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves. We wrap up the day by returning to the hotel, which is planned for approximately 5 p.m.
