A very interesting way to spend some time in the beautiful country of costa rica. - Jason, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and a very pleasant person to spend the morning with. He not only taught us about the birds in the preserve, but also other wildlife. He was extremely patient in trying to locate birds by sound and finding them in a spotting scope for us.

Great guide! Great photos through the scope! - Jaison was a terrific guide. We saw so much that we would not have seen without him. He even went out of his way to show us a place with about 12 macaws at the end of the tour. Highly recommended!

Great experience! - We hired Jeison for a morning of birding around our hotel and Carara National Park, an afternoon boat trip on the Tarcoles River, and then a second morning around our hotel. He was friendly, pleasant to chat with, easy to work with, and very skilled at getting all of our family on the birds. I would certainly hire him again if we return to the region.

Amazing & friendly birding guide! - I had the great pleasure of taking a very nice 4-5 hour birding tour with Jeison in June'25! He knew several great hot-spots in the area, where I was able to see & photograph many lifers, including my very first ever kingfisher! We also saw motmots, scarlet macaws, barred antshrike, boat-billed heron, a bat falcon and many more! Jeison tailored my tour specifically towards getting good photos, since that was my main focus. This was highly appreciated, and I will absolutely hire him again when I return to this area!

Seeing Carara with an expert guide! - Jeison Hernanadez was an amazing guide. He was incredibly knowledgable; not only about different bird and animal species, but he also knew so much about the ecology of the area. We saw an amazing array of birds, as well as other creatures (poison dart frogs, blue morpho butterfly, leaf cutter ants, capuchin and spider monkeys, to name a few). Jeison was easygoing, friendly, and patient with our many questions. His English is excellent. If you have the opportunity to visit Carara, he's the guide you want to get!

Met my "Wild"-est dreams! - Jeison was exceptional! So knowledgeable about nature in general; incredible at finding birds in the dense jungle and setting up his scope in seconds. Completely fluent in English. We were completely satisfied with the tour.

Worth it! - Jeison made this trip so educational and pleasant for novice birdwatchers on this private tour! He was patient with our questions and pace. He introduced us to birds we never would have spotted without his expert eye, such as the crown wood nymph, red capped manakin, Baird’s trogon, lazy tailed trogon, bright rumped Attila, chestnut colored ant bird, the grey headed tanager, and of course macaws. I highly recommend him and this tour!

Birding and photography in Carara National Park - Wonderful birding in Carara National Park. I think we had over 40 species! Jeison was super knowledgeable and friendly and I will contact him again the next time I’m in the area.

Top notch guide = lots of species - What an amazing tour with our guide Jeison Hernandez! He was extremely knowledgeable - not only about the birds, but all of the plants and animals that call Carara National Park home. We saw 40-50 species in a 4-hour hike through the park. We are avid birders on our fourth trip to Costa Rica and this trip exceeded our already high expectations. Go with a guide. You will see far, far more than you could on your own. We saw motmots, macaws, puffbirds, hummingbirds, manakins, tanagers, ant shrikes, jackamars, a pale-billed woodpecker, and even a forest falcon. We can’t say enough good things about Jeison.
