Untouched for centuries, the vast Selous Game Reserve is a protected wildlife area offering day trips from Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam. This reserve is the biggest game viewing spot in Africa and the favorite amongst many. The Selous occupies about 54,600 km2 (21,081 sq. miles), or nearly 6% of Tanzania’s total land, making it one of the largest protected wet wilderness regions in Africa. Situated in Southern Tanzania, the SELOUS GAME RESERVE is four times the size of the Serengeti and equivalent in size to Switzerland.
