Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park - Following a brief morning orientation, the journey begins to Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s smallest yet most diverse parks. The expansive, shallow, and alkaline Lake Manyara hosts thousands of flamingos seasonally, creating a stunning pink spectacle. Additionally, over 500 bird species and a variety of remarkable mammals inhabit the park. Monkeys thrive in the forests, while giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and wildebeests roam the grassy plains, and elephants and lions dwell in the acacia woodlands. From the vehicle’s open roof, visitors can observe the wildlife and take in the scenery. After a thorough game drive and a picnic lunch, the tour proceeds to the cooler Ngorongoro highlands for an overnight stay at Kizumba Tented Camp or other lodges.

Ngorongoro Crater Tour

Ngorongoro Crater - An early start leads to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and a descent into the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater, nearly 600 meters deep and about 20 kilometers wide, is a vast caldera teeming with diverse wildlife. During the game drive, there is a chance to see a variety of mammals, including the Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard—as well as Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles and mountain reedbucks. Spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs, and over 500 bird species may also be spotted. After enjoying a picnic lunch in the crater and further game viewing, the tour exits the crater in the afternoon, heading back to Karatu for another night at Kizumba Tented Lodge or alternative lodges.

Tarangire National Park – Arusha

Tarangire National Park - After breakfast, the adventure continues to Tarangire National Park, another gem on the Northern Circuit. Known for its vast grasslands, majestic baobab trees, the perennial Tarangire River, and seasonal swamps, the park hosts the largest elephant herds in northern Tanzania. Wildlife gathers at the river, offering sightings of elephants, giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, dik-diks, waterbucks, warthogs, and reedbucks year-round. Additionally, buffaloes, zebras, and wildebeests are present, often accompanied by predators like lions. Leopards are occasionally seen, though cheetahs are rare. After a comprehensive game drive, the tour departs the park in the afternoon, returning to Arusha by early evening.
