We had a wonderful time... - We had a wonderful time learning how to cook chicken tagine and a beef dish with Anwar and his family. There was so much food, and it was so nice to be welcomed into their home. Anwar’s mother graciously demonstrated her recipes, and we participated by chopping vegetables. They also served tea and sweets with the meal, and everything was delicious! We highly recommend this cooking class as a fun family activity.

Real authentic Moroccan food and not what they give you in restaurants - Anuar and his mom saved the Moroccan food reputation in our eyes, because we were not lucky to have tried tajin before in the restaurant VAndalusia. Latifa is such a great cook, the food is absolutely amazing. We could not get enough of it. Very beautiful experience. Not only you learn to cook but you have the opportunity to try what real Moroccan food is and not what they give you in restaurants. Very recommended

Hands-On and Engaging - From the medina walk to the cooking class, this tour was full of memorable experiences. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. The family cooking class was hands-on, and they explained each dish carefully. Eating the food we prepared ourselves was a highlight, and the hospitality of the family made us feel at home.

Meet the people of Tangier through food - Wonderful experience. Easy trip via car to their home. We successfully linked two separate excursions because both tour providers talked with each other and worked it out perfectly. Immediately welcomed upon arrival by entire family. We got seated and put to work preparing the vegetable ingredients for our chicken tangine dish (with instruction). Had selections of breads and pastries with tea while it cooked. Food arrived with a flourish lifting the lid and showing off a colorful tasty dish. A lot of food for the four of us so no one went hungry. After eating we had a quick trip back to the port in time to meet our all aboard time. Good way to get to know the people of Tangier.

Family cooking class? Not at all. - We had booked an appointment at 12 noon. At 22:15 the night before we were asked if an appointment at 16:00 would be okay. At 3:20, he called to see if we could get out, he was just around the corner. We were fortunately prepared and then waited together for a taxi. After the short drive towards Medina we were allowed to get out and follow him to a restaurant. In the outdoor kitchen on the roof the cooking took place. There was a mobile gas stove there. The friendly woman named Fatima showed us the ingredients for the tagine. We peeled potatoes and carrots and cut onions into small pieces. This was then stacked in the tagine. While the tagine was cooking we were led to a seller of argan oil where we spent more money than planned. Then we were led back to the restaurant where we ate the tagine. There was tea, water, salad and bread. On the way out, he gave us stuffed puff pastry bags. For the trip back to the hotel he organized a taxi again and paid in advance before saying goodbye to us.

Disappointing experience - We peel1 carrot,1potato and 1 onion. Then wait 45 min until the dish was ready. Misleading and expensive. Afrader! After our complaint we were promised a refund but it was never received.

Stay far away -- extortionists. - Definitely stay far away! Anwar and his family are scammers who extorted me and my friends. Not only are the first initial photos not from the "cooking class," which is not a cooking class at all, but rather going to Anwar's family's apartment and peeling some vegetables on his couch for tangine his mother prepares while he puts YouTube videos on the TV. Then, Anwar insisted on us giving him our phones after eating so he could submit AI-generated reviews for his tours. He took my phone and left a fake review for a tour I did not do. Anwar is the only English speaker, and the cooking class was after his brother, Matty, took us on a "tour" of the Medina that Anwar said came with the class that cost double what non-extortionists charge. The tour included us being taken to an overpriced restaurant alongside other tourists and quickly brought to various shops that sold rugs, bowls or oils, and pressured into making purchases from the men there who would give "shows" of their products. We learned nothing on the tour -- they just wanted our money and as three young female foreigners the experience was very stressful. Anwar got commission from all the sales -- he asked us what we bought after in his apartment, and he arranged transportation for us that also cost more than it should have. When we mentioned wanting to experience hammam, Matty brought us to a place, but charged us 35 euros for an experience that really costs 2 euros, then requested we tip him. If you want a positive experience in Morocco, look elsewhere. Anwar and his family are not licensed tour guides.
