Highlights
  • Las Baulas National Marine Park - At 5:45pm you will meet our naturalist expert turtle guide at designated pick up location or hotel, and our transportation will take you to the turtle beach about 40minutes north of Tamarindo.
During this experience the guide will be sharing much information about the turtles, reproduction , behavior, diets and nesting processes.

3 different species of turtles can be seen, but we don’t know which species will be out during our experience. Leatherbacks are the worlds largest turtle, Green sea turtles and Olive Ridley sea turtles are the 3 species that are in the area.

During the tour we will experience the turtle activity following all guidelines given by the guide, you will be able to take pictures but without flash! You will be close to the turtle but never will you be able to touch it. The turtle nesting depends of conditions on the beach, like clear sandbars and good temperatures. Seeing the turtles lay eggs is not guaranteed as it depends of the conditions of the beach.

Once in a lifetime experience. Not to be missed! - Amazing- once in a lifetime experience. Our guide, Verny, was awesome. So knowledgeable. His passion for the turtles and genuine love for them was more than evident. The whole experience was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. We witnessed 6 females coming up to nest and even assisted babies to the shoreline walking with red lights in front of them to guide them…of course NO touching!!! Verny guided us through the entire experience, making absolute sure we respected the animals, keeping our distance, remaining absolutely quiet, shuffling our feet and allowing no lights other than Red lights so as not to disturb the mothers as the searched for adequate nesting places. It’s was absolutely amazing.

Amazing experience - Amazing experience. Our guide was a lot more respectful and informative than the other groups around. His patience and knowledge paid off as other groups left the beach and we stayed then 10 minutes later found baby turtles hatching and making their way to sea! All around amazing.

Great nature experience, turtles in their natural environment! - We had a great guide in Moisés. He was very committed to showing us the most turtles. And it worked out; we saw a mother as well as babies on another beach. We learned a lot about the turtles! Great and thank you!

Magical, unforgettable experience. - Everything about this tour was 5 stars, starting with our guide, Verny. His passion for the turtles and their preservation was evident from the first moment of our trip. On our way to the beach Verny educated us about the turtles and procedures of the adventure. Once we were there, he made sure we were all equipped with bug spray, flashlights, water, and all knowledge we needed for the short hike to the beach. We were able to watch 2 mama turtles ascend the beach to find the perfect spot for their eggs. We were also so lucky to see about 3 dozen baby turtles hatch and make their way back to the ocean. This excursion was breath-taking and magical. I wouldn’t hesitate to book this again with this company and Verny. Don’t miss this opportunity.

Experiencing Tamarindo's wild turtles and nesting habitat - This was our family's first excursion after arriving in Tamarindo and it did not disappoint! The remote beach was a good 30 minute ride from Tamarindo along increasingly remote and rough roads as we approached the beach. Our guide, Christian, was incredibly knowledgeable and his English was impeccable. As we got to the beach a greenback turtle was making her way back to the ocean after laying eggs. After walking a bit Chris pointed out where the turtles were laying eggs. As we were watching, the baby turtles started emerging out of the nest in the sand. This was a great treat for my biologist son!

We saw baby turtles. - After being picked up in Tamarindo we stayed 50mns in the bus to reach the beach parking. From there we walked 15 minutes to get to the beach where we followed our guide who was the only one who had an infra red light, the only light allowed there to avoid disturbing the turtles. Then our group was told not to move and to wait for news in the dark. After a while, another group found some baby turtles crossing the beach to get to the ocean. After we were allowed to move, we could see them too and everyone was around these little things struggling in the sand to reach their destination. Finally, we waited some more, looking at the stars hoping to see a mother turtle coming, but with all the kids playing on the beach, nothing happened.
