- Pico Bistro Tamarindo - When you arrive at the surf spot, we will work together to pick out the perfect board and rash guard for you. Next, we will begin with a brief, informative theory lesson on land where you will learn everything you need to know about safety and how to get up on the board. Once everyone feels confident, we will head out in the water and spend the rest of the time catching and shredding waves! After the lesson, we will come back to the spot and bottles of water will be provided to everyone that surfed.

We bring the energy, passion, and good vibes into each lesson. We are located at Tamarindo Beach, one of the best beaches to learn to surf in the world! Never surfed in your life? Been surfing for years and want to improve? No need to worry! Our surf school is experienced with all skill levels. With our thoughtful and detailed coaching, we can help you succeed no matter what you wish to accomplish.
After your lesson, we will provide cold water for all surfers. We invite you to stay around and enjoy the beach with us! Have questions about what to do, where to eat, etc? We are more than happy to answer all your questions and chat with you about all things Costa Rica!

Pico Bistro Tamarindo
Please find your way to Pico Bistro. You can park in the parking lot adjacent if necessary. Next to Pico and in front of the parking, you will see the lifeguard tower. We are the surf school to the left of the lifeguard tower (if you are facing the water).

11/10 EXPERIENCE!!!! - 11/10 experience!!!! Would definitely recommend!!! Very experienced, kind and funny instructors who really know what they’re doing. After just a few tries we were able to catch the first waves and constantly got better within only two hours. The coaches were extremely attentive and gave us such good advice💯 The fresh coconut at the end was the cherry on top!
If you’re ambitious and eager to learn how to surf you’re definitely at the right place!!

Great surf experience - Had a family surf lesson with Joshua and Gustavo and we had a great time. Joshua took such good care of our kids and they were both able to stand up multiple times during the lesson. Gustavo was super patient with us and helpful to find the best waves for us to ride. Great experience.

These local professionals are just really good! - Awesome experience with these guys! My instructor Mariano was patient with me too. I really had fun learning surfing! I’d get lessons with them again if I go back to Costa Rica! Also, there was one time I was walking on the beach I got to see these guys kill the waves! They’re so good! And it’s a lot cheaper than doing a surf camp. Thank you guys!

Tamarindo Surf Fun! - Joshua was great to work with reserving our surf lessons and Miguel was a great teacher making it fun and easy for our kids to get up on their boards and enjoy catching waves!

5/5 would recommend - We had Miguel as an instructor and he got me and my brother on our feet within our first few waves. His 20 years of experience really shined through and made us relaxed and confident.

Jonathan is by far the best instructor and this was the highlight of my trip - I did a class with Jonathan. He is a professional local surfer that competed and knows very well how teach a very scared beginner.
I don’t consider myself athletic by any means and he was determined to make me catch a wave and stand up on the board.
Can’t recommend this course and instructor enough. I would say it was the highlight of my trip.
