Highlights
  • 15528 S Birch Creek Blvd - As you enter The Reindeer Grove, you’ll head out back behind the cabin to the campfire located inside the reindeer pen, where you’ll get an initial introduction to our reindeer and help us feed them their dinner. For our meal, we’ll then return inside to enjoy a hearty dinner of chili (with or without reindeer), potatoes, and sourdough flatbread. You’ll have the opportunity to hear the history of this unique cabin, starting with its beginnings as a saloon in the early 1980s, and learn how your hosts (the current owners) became reindeer farmers. For dessert, we’ll head back out to the fire for s’mores (if there’s still room!) and some closer interactions (petting and snuggling) with the reindeer. Throughout the experience, you’ll discover what makes reindeer so fascinating, how they live as farm animals in the subarctic, their history with Alaskans and other parts of the world, various reindeer lore, and much more. The setting is both enlightening and peaceful, and you’ll leave with unforgettable memories and stories of your own.

Additional Information

Be one of the select few on Earth to say you’ve dined with reindeer beneath the Alaskan winter night sky. If the stars align, it could be under the aurora borealis (also known as the northern lights), with a milky way backdrop, or amidst a gentle snowfall. This unique, authentically Alaskan experience features a hearty northern meal (chili [with or without reindeer], sourdough flatbread, and baked potato, with s’mores for dessert) cooked over an open fire, and unlimited warm beverages to keep you cozy. If Jack Frost becomes too much, our distinctive and artistic lodge is the perfect place to warm up and learn about this quirky cabin that started as a saloon in the early 1980s. Throughout the experience, our 3 resident reindeer will be with us, and you’ll even help feed them. Reindeer need to eat too! This unforgettable experience will leave you entertained, informed, and well-fed.
