Additional Information

This historical and cultural Takuapa tour explores the old town of Takuapa, formerly known as Takola. The old Takuapa district was once a trading area between Thai, Chinese, and Sino-Portuguese peoples and was the main center of the region’s then lucrative tin industry. The Chinese influence is easily noticeable, with several ancient Chinese temples and shrines scattered around the town. Visit the Takuapa Market to see locals selling and bargaining for their produce. This large market is interesting for its beautifully constructed Sino-Portuguese buildings. In former times, a large number of Chinese came to work in tin mines and settled here. See Tor Sor Cake Factory, a popular dessert in Takuapa. It is similar to Chinese mooncakes but smaller. Hassle-free pickup and drop-off from your Khao Lak hotel.

Recommend this tour - This was a great tour. It gave us enough information to come away having learned something about Thailand and the culture. There was one other couple and they didn’t seem as interested as us, so it was more like a private tour. They provided water. Answered questions. It was great.

Old town - Perfect half a day trip to the old town. We got a wrong pick up time… so just double check that before! Our guide was very nice and knowledgable. Even our 5 years old survive the trip, thanks to the nice car and airco 😊 if you want few hours away from your hotel, this is very convenient!

Program "wordlessly" fulfilled - We were a couple traveling alone with our guide. Unfortunately, she didn't explain anything and spoke very little English. We liked what we saw, away from the mass tourism in Khao Lak. Unfortunately, we were only in the old town for about 30 minutes. In the end, we were back at the hotel after just 2.5 hours. What a pity. It was too expensive for the service.
