Real Monk Experience in Tokyo - This was a great experience. Felt very authentic and you don’t need to know anything about Buddhism. You practice meditation, calligraphy, see how to pray at the temple and have a brief tea ceremony. Kazu was a very helpful host and spoke English. The mono, Namiki, was very friendly and answered all of our questions. Highly recommend!

Lovely experience - Kazu was very helpful. We enjoyed the small temple experience and the monk explaining the basic principles of meditation, the items used for that (bowl, bell, the fish wooden drums ). We had two meditation of 10 minutes each - so it is fine even if you have never tried meditating before. We had a calligraphy session - very relaxing i have to say, and a short tea ceremony. We enjoyed the experience and recommend it.

Zen -Live Your True Self - Find Your Meaning (shujinko) - It was/is a very good way to get a very small practical impression about zen, zazen, calligraphy and the tea ceremony. The subsequent casual conversation about the tasks of a monk in the middle of the big city was also very revealing. Perfectly organized in the short time without neglecting the message, "live your meaning, your true self" (shujinko). It was/is a very good opportunity to gain a very brief, practical insight into Zen, zazen, calligraphy, and the tea ceremony. The subsequent informal discussion about the duties of a monk in the middle of a big city was also very insightful. It was perfectly organized in a short space of time, without neglecting the message of "live your purpose, your true self" (shujinko).

Exactly the cultural experience that I hoped it would be! - We got to try Zen meditation and experience a tea ceremony; both our guide Ken and the monk were very, very personable and helpful; and it gave us a mission to visit a less touristy part of Tokyo. Also btw it’s very convenient to walk to Ueno zoo after the early morning ceremony.
