Tosa Washi, boasting a rich history of over 1,000 years, ranks among Japan’s top three washi papers. Celebrated for its durability and warmth, it offers an engaging and unforgettable experience in Asakusa—ideal for enthusiasts of crafts or Japanese culture.
Following a brief video introduction to the history and creation of Tosa Washi, participants will don traditional workwear (samue) and craft washi postcards with guidance from a welcoming instructor.
In both the Plain Paper Plan and Colored Paper Plan, participants will create four plain postcards by hand. The Colored Paper Plan includes an additional step: layering exquisite Rakusuishi—lace-like decorative washi—on top. Participants can select their favorite four colors.
The workshop is filled with joy and amazement at the beauty of the completed paper. Take home your handmade washi as a unique keepsake.
