Highlights
  • Ameyoko Shopping Street - Ameyoko (アメ横) is a busy market street along the Yamanote Line tracks between Okachimachi and Ueno Stations. The name “Ameyoko” is a short form for “Ameya Yokocho” (candy store alley), as candies were traditionally sold there. Alternatively, “Ame” also stands for “America”, because a lot of American products used to be available there when the street was the site of a black market in the years following World War Two.

A great day with Hiro - We had a very special day with our guide, Hiro. Hiro was on time and visible in our meeting place holding a sign with our name on it. At the outset he said that this would be a tour of "off the beaten path" interest areas of Tokyo. We had so much fun learning about culture of Japan and Hiro made sure that we had time to shop and interact with local merchants. Hiro selected a lunch place for us where we enjoyed a Japanese meal with him. As the saying goes, "time flies when you're having fun". We highly recommend this tour with Hiro.

Shop with ease, and then you drop. - This is only way to go if you want to shop and get to those destinations with ease. Tokyo is a BIG city and your guide will get you to those places where you can buy what you want. We did cooking in one part of the city and anime in another with the subways in between, now easily navigated with your guide.

Above and Beyond Experience: Miya! - I know a lot of reviews name drop because the guides ask for it, but Miya provided and experience with above and beyond planning and genuine care. By far the best guide in any of our world travels. She reached out early on to understand what we wanted. It was a bit tricky with 3 little girls wanting Hello Kitty, Monchhichi, and Capsule vending machines (gashapon), adults wanting designer (Prada, Rolex, etc) and all wanting snacks (Tanghulu). She delivered on all of it. She even did a WhatsApp video call before to understand exactly. The above and beyond: - Took time to customize our name sign with our favorite Hello Kitty characters. - Brought Suica cards and holders for the kids to use. They loved being like an adult and tapping their cards. - Planning the perfect day and time to balance it all with stops at capsule store and Tanghulu to start. Helped us order the food. - Made sushi reservations for us, and at the kid friendly Kura, which they loved. - Talked to the chef to ensure our niece (8) with Celiac disease had gluten free food. - Kiddy Land for the kids toys - Ginza for the adults. Called numerous Rolex dealers for me and went with me to translate. - Pre work of finding F1 pop up store for us (F1 in Japan the following week). Then, on top of all that, after it was over, she came back to our hotel and brought a gift for our daughter who didn’t make the trip with us. Miya, we cannot thank you enough! You are the most thoughtful person!!

Best Tour Ever - Maya my tour guide was amazing. She was kind, knowledgeable and knew the best spots to visit and shop. I managed to get a Handbag I had wanted for a long time all thanks to Maya. The fish market was also a highlight of my tour. I highly recommend her. Thank you for a wonderful day Maya.

Great tour! - Nobuko was a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable and flexible. My only suggestion is to request your start after 10 or 11 because that is when many shops open.

Rainy but wonderful day out! - Despite the rain we got that day, I ended up doing everything and even more from the things I've planned with my wonderful guide, Yumi. The fish market was a memorable experience and a great start of the day. From there we visited the Meiji Jingu shrine . Then to a couple of shopping streets and I even got lucky to see a dance festival going on a big boulevard in the area. After some refreshments in Shibuya we ended the tour in Ueno. It was a pleasure to meet Yumi and to have her as my guide. Highly recommended.
