Best cooking class - Amazing cooking class using organic produce from the instructor’s farm. Beautiful rice paddies trek before cooking. The food was incredibly delicious and the hosts unbelievably hospitable. Extremely friendly people in a wonderful setting.

The best and most beautiful experience in Bali! - We had an amazing day at the cooking class. Such an intimate experience where the family welcomed us so well. We made so many dishes and got SO much value for money. We picked the vegetables and herbs ourselves from the garden and it was all incredibly authentic and well-informed. We also went on the most beautiful hike! Very highly recommended!

A truly Authentic Experience - If you are looking for an authentic experience, you don’t need to look any further! From the pick up at our hotel to the drop off at the end of the day we had an incredible Balinese experience. Our day began with a drive through some small villages to the UNESCO site of Jatiluwih Rice terraces where red and white rice has been grown the same for hundreds of years. This followed with a guided trek through the paddies where we learned about the planting and harvesting. Once we reached Kubu Rice terraces we were met with traditional Balinese music and were greeted by Made and Davi Seneng, our gracious hosts. Before cooking we were taken through their garden and learned about Balinese spices and picked organic vegetables and herbs for our meals. From there we learned to make many meals from a spice base called Bumbu Bali and ended with a delicious dish of fried banana. I cannot recommend this experience enough!

Cooking trip in the rice fields - We were picked up promptly with a smile! Fantastic trip with Happy and his son. Walked through rice fields and welcomed into the family gardens and kitchens. Made a fantastic meal with vegetables picked from garden. Full 4 course meal made with coffee. Had enough to take back and eat in evening. Such good value and a brilliant experience. Something you won't regret booking.

Best Cooking Experience - This is the second time that I have done this excellent cooking class and rice field tour. The first time, I went with my husband, and this time, we took family, including an eight-year-old and a 12-year-old. All loved the experience from start to finish. The attention to detail in explaining how the rice is grown and harvested to sharing a delightful menu of dishes. Teaching us all many new skills in traditional Balinese cooking. It is a uniquely humble family that cares for and accommodates all guests' needs. If you are looking for something different than commercial cooking experiences with a traditional feel, you will enjoy this experience very much. We will certainly be returning. Thank you, Kubu team, for sharing your cooking and home with us. Zerin

Don’t miss this!! Best cooking class!! - Absolute highlight of our trip to Bali. The trek through the rice fields was beautiful, and we learned a lot about the local farming practises. Then we went to Made’s cooking class where we learned to cook an amazing menu of traditional Balinese food. We can’t wait to recreate the recipes back home for our family. Do not miss this amazing experience, you won’t regret it!

Bali Jatiluwih cooking class - Amazing experience! Happy is a super genuine and interesting person who enjoys sharing his knowledge about Bali and Balinese culture. We learned so much during our discussions throughout the day while driving from Ubud to Jatiluwih, small hike to his village through the rice terraces and during the cooking class. We were warmly welcomed by Happy’s family and team. The icing on the cake was to gather some veggies and herbs in his farm, and to discover all the different plants he and his family grow. We highly recommend participating in this activity. Not only will you support locals (as his whole family helps his activity on the farm), but you will also learn much about Balinese culture, rice farming and of course local cooking. The price is higher than Ubud cooking classes but very well worth it, immersive and much less touristic.

Heaven on Earth - It was our dream come true to meet up with Made again after 9 years without seeing each other. He and his work partner Karma picked us up at the cruise ship terminal and drove us into the beautiful countryside of his KubuTerrace Cooking Classes, all the while providing us with an educational experience of the beautiful Balinese people. We gathered fresh organic vegetables from the garden and learned how to make several traditional Balinese recipes, under the shelter from the Sun and looking out onto the stunningly beautiful rice fields. It was a wonderful family affair complete involving his extended family. We were even entertained by his father and uncle with traditional Balinese instruments. All in all it was definitely the highlight of our Indonesian voyage and left us feeling hungry (in the spiritual and culinary sense) to return again. Made and his family and friends have created magic, and we are so grateful to them for that.

A great way experience Jatiluwih! - This tour was an absolute joy! We wanted to get away from the busyness of Canggu and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The trek into the farm was so beautiful but would be difficult if you have mobility issues. Made, Karma and the rest of the staff were so lovely and accommodating ensuring everyone was looked after. We learned to cook simple, delicious, traditional vegetarian meals and I can’t wait to make the peanut sauce again! Highly recommend!
