A unique show! - A puppet show aimed at adults, very professional and impressive by the life we give to each of the puppets. In addition, the behind-the-scenes tour and the puppet handling training was great!

Not to be missed, Teatro dei Pupi, Ortiga, Syracuse. - What a wonderful behind the scenes look at this traditional Sicilian art form this was. The Teatro dei Pupi was utterly charming and authentic. Traditional skills, magnificent puppets and all hand made and operated by the small team that works there.

Nice puppetry art show! - Great show (in Italian) if you like local history!! Especially enjoyed behind the scenes explanation (in English) of puppetry as art form passed on by generations!!

We missed the show, but they saved the day! - We were so sad to find out that we had read the time wrong for our booking so when we arrived we realized that we had missed everything! While they were not able to do a show just for us, they were kind enough to arrange for a behind the scenes tour just for us. Our sadness quickly changed as we learned about the Art of puppetry, tried our hand at using them and seeing all their beautiful puppets. It was quite remarkable. Thank you for turning things around for us!

A fantastic tour and show. - A unique and wonderful experience. Our guide was so professional and clearly passionate about his work in the Teatro di Puppi. We were able to see backstage and try our hand at puppetering. The legacy of the traditional puppets were explained and we then watched a show. Fantastic- not to be missed.

Be the puppet master - The behind the scenes tour was a perfect way to get our 5yo daughter engaged and interested in the show. We did not understand one word of Italian during the show, but we knew when to laugh and when to cheer. Our daughter has asked to go back!

A step back in time in Italian Culture - It’s a lovely intimate theatre that showcases traditional Marionette Puppetry. The Marionettes are 4-5 ft tall. The dialogue is in Italian but before the show starts, the plot is explained in English. The show is 45 mins with no intermission- a little long considering you can’t really follow the dialogue- so I wouldn’t recommend it for young children. If you hang onto your theatre ticket, you can go into the Puppet Museum- about a 5 min walk down the road- for 1 Euro to see the history of this art form. I’d suggest that instead of the “ behind the scenes” option.
