• Breiðamerkurjökull - On the Ice Exploration tour, participants will enjoy a 2-hour (4-6 km) hike on Breiðamerkurjökull, a glacier outlet of Vatnajökull. The guide will provide insights into glacier formation and transformation, and their impact on the environment. Expect to see stunning natural features such as mountains, ashy ice, and possibly blue ice. Tour activities are tailored to daily conditions and group interests, with options to explore larger glacier areas or venture into moulins and crevasses. This medium-difficulty tour requires walking 4-6 km on varied terrain and in different weather conditions. No previous glacier experience is necessary.

Crampons, helmets, and safety harnesses are provided. Guides will ensure participants are well-prepared before the tour begins. Dress appropriately for the weather; the glacier is typically as cold as the Glacier Lagoon meeting point. Wear warm, breathable, waterproof clothing and sturdy hiking boots that cover the ankles and provide good support.

Meeting times are 08:30, 12:00, or 13:45

• Can people with shoe size smaller than EU 35 join? No
• Wear comfortable, warm, yet breathable waterproof clothing and hiking boots. Wear hiking boots that cover your ankles and offer good ankle support.
