Highlights
  • The Wax Museum Gold Coast - The Wax Museum - World in Wax - Embark on a journey through time to encounter legends and scoundrels of yesteryear. Come face-to-face with sovereigns and leaders, luminaries, musicians, military chiefs, pioneers, spiritual figures, and notorious individuals. At the Gold Coast Wax Museum, historical figures are brought to life in full-scale, realistic detail, as if they were on the brink of speech, resurrecting their splendor and sorrow.

The Wax Museum - Chamber of Horrors - A half-hour guided exploration offers a stark portrayal of a brutal history. The exhibit showcases over 40 devices of punishment from various regions of the globe, ranging from the tongue tearer to the guillotine. Each torture device is presented with vivid narrative flair, complete with a backdrop of historical context. The Tour Guide provokes contemplation on the subject of torture and capital punishment in the modern “civilised” society.

In the past, urban centers worldwide typically featured a scaffold in the public square and a gallows at the outskirts. The rack beneath the town hall was frequently employed for intense questioning, and the role of the executioner was a legitimate profession: “The initial blow is the most crucial.” Church attorneys crafted unique penalties for the extraordinary offenses of witchcraft and heresy. The Spanish Inquisition wielded a sophisticated arsenal of tools to combat those perceived diabolical deeds.

Wicked. Lovely Staff - Had a fantastic time at the Wax Museum today. The figures are behind glass (this was explained to us very nicely by the lovely lady at the front desk) this makes it hard to get a good photo. But photos aren’t necessary. We came for the history lesson. The downstairs area is a guided medieval torture weapon display. Our guide was very informed and enthusiastic. Very happy to rate 5 stars 👍🏻

Something a bit different. - The horror section really reminds you of how harsh punishment was back in the olden days. If you are a bit squeamish, skip it. It was interesting for the kids to see a wax museum as there aren’t many left in the world. Gave us the opportunity as a family to discuss the world figures displayed there.

Chamber of Horrors - A small place, not what I expected I was told the wax statues have been collected from around the world. They are not like Madame Tussaud’s but her wax figure was there 😊 The chamber of horrors is Horrific 🫣 Finding parking spot was an issue, not sure if the place has one (forgot to ask)

Ripped off. Drab. Outdated. No toilet. Should be shut down. - Don't go there. It's SO bad!! It should be renamed to the SUX MUSUEM. Genuinely feel ripped off. Cost $112 for 4 people. It started off downstairs with a 30 minute tour of various torture methods. Most people in the group walked out within 5-10 minutes. I thought this was one of the main attractions on the Gold Coast. It is not. It's just a drab, out-dated collections of dioramas made up of components that look like they were bought on Wish. Don't expect Taylor Swift or anything new or relevant. No toilet facilities either. Nearest one was across a 4 lane road. I created an account just to leave this review. If I could leave zero stars, I would.

Gross - Honestly terrible. The Whitney Houston model was a white Woman with blonde hair and the queen looked more like princess Fiona from shrek. Can’t believe we paid so much money for that rubbish

A possible re-think - The famous people wax figures was ok. It's The chamber of horrors left me asking myself what the hell I had just seen? No warning given and little kids were allowed through. Really poor form.
