Fantastic Climb - Probably the best hike I’ve ever done! I lucked out with a private tour. My guide, Freddy, was fantastic and very experienced. Mateo is definitely not easy, and you need to be in both good physical shape and properly acclimatized. The first portion is climbing on rocks, and then you start the ice climbing. I personally found the rock climbing to be challenging on its own, while the ice climbing was particularly hard because of the altitude. Remember to breathe slowly and deeply. Go to Mateo!

Unforgettable experience - First to start with is communication which is professional and very informative via WhatsApp.We had to postpone our climbing experience by one day due to health issues which has been fully accepted. During equipment tests we were given first instructions regarding how to dress and eat before climb. Our guide Esteban was helpful and very experienced climber, gave us a lot of attention and hints in order to make it to the summit back and forth within 4h20min. Overall it is once in a lifetime experience for someone who never had any climbing experience so far. Safety is one of the key words of Scheler Artizon Trek which for myself played a huge role once selecting the best tour company in Huaraz.
