Highlights
  • Suchitoto - Nestled in the scenic Cuscatlán department, Suchitoto lies a mere 47 kilometers from the nation’s capital. Renowned for its hospitable ambiance, Suchitoto is revered as a historic treasure of the nation, boasting a wealth of colonial legacy and the iconic Artificial lake Suchitlán that enhances its stunning vistas.

The town’s Nahuatl name translates to ‘Place of the flower bird.’ Its streets, paved with cobblestones, and the colonial-style homes with picturesque balconies offer visitors a glimpse into yesteryear. Strolling through its alleys, one can discover art galleries showcasing exquisite Salvadoran art and vibrant stores selling wooden crafts, exquisite woven goods, indigo garments, and a plethora of home decor accessories.

  • Parque Arqueologico Cihuatan - Cihuatan, the largest archaeological site in El Salvador, is situated 30 km from the city of San Salvador. This community rose to prominence following the well-known decline of the Mayan civilization. Cihuatan, a post-classic Pipil city dating from 900 to 1200 AD, encompasses over 100 mounds spread across 70 hectares. A great day out! - A wonderful day out with our guide and driver David. We were lucky to have him all to ourselves and also the Cihuatan site almost all to ourselves. It is a quiet and well kept site and worth a visit. David took us to a great restaurant for lunch with magnificent views then we visited very pretty town of Suchitoto. David was very considerate and a careful driver as well and very helpful and we learnt a lot. Thanks aggro a great day out.

Cobblestone streets and Colonial buildings - A very pretty, quiet city. There are plenty of great pupuserias and an old, remodeled theater with free cultural events. We saw opera choruses! It's easy and fun to go out on the lake. This town is work a visit.
