Additional Information

Korčula is commonly known as the city of Marco Polo, and indeed it is, but it offers so much more beyond this fact. Its historical background extends all the way back to the Neolithic era.

According to mythology, the mesmerizing Korčula was the dwelling place of the enchanting Greek hero, Kerkyra, who is also said to have bequeathed her name to it. Presently, Korčula offers a delightful blend of nature, pristine beaches, one of which even bears the nickname “Croatian Santorini”, and a rich tapestry of culture, history, and tradition spanning thousands of years.

Century-old olive groves, vineyards, and fruit and vegetable farms guarantee that dining in Korčula is a locally sourced culinary delight. The fond memories of native Croatian singer, Oliver Dragojević, pervades Korčula, keeping the pleasing Dalmatian music and ambiance alive at every turn. A fitting compliment to a glass of wine, naturally.

Fabulous trip - Really fab day. Ancient town of Ston is so interesting, the wine tasting experience was excellent and we were well looked after and the Island of Korcula is simply stunning. Lovely little quirky ferry ride to top it off

Beautiful korcula - First we missed the bus but it was no trouble, we were taken care of immediately, Doris our guide was fun and the whole day was amazing. Really enjoyed the stop at Ston and the wine tasting topped off the day. The owners were very generous and we tasted quite a few liqueurs.

Weekend at the seaside - Very interesting old city to visit and spectacular coast and sea The hotels with sea view are interesting, but some are not very recent and have very high prices

Lovely day out 🙂 - Lovely day trip from Dubrovnik, definitely recommend to see something outside of the city. Only issue was we didn't visit Orebic as advertised, otherwise the day was lovely. Our guide was fantastic with lots of useful information and history about the area, overall a great day out 🙂

The tour was a good... - The tour was a good assortment of stops and activities. The drop in the rating for us was that our issue with the trip was that it was described as a small bus/van tour and we were on a motor coach bus as the operator had combined an English tour with a German tour so not only did we listen to the presentation in English, we were subjected to listen to it in German as well. The tour describes that the drop off spot is the same as the pick up… staying in old town this is not the case. We were picked up just outside the gates to Old Town but dropped off a 10 minute walk from that location as we were informed the bus could not go down there at that time of day - not sure of that as by the time we got there, there were other tour buses dropping people off. The tour guide was knowledgeable but not a great speaker.

A rather mediocre experience. - We enjoyed a small group tour due to our out of season visit. Our first stop in Ston was early in the morning, when almost all cafés & restaurants were closed, so we couldn't taste the delicious oysters this small town was so popular for. I appreciate the nice gesture from our driver Carlos to let us vote in favour of a second stop in Ston on our way back for an oyster tasting experience (it didn't disappoint at all!). Despite the amazing sea views, we weren't impressed with the 10-mins boat ride to Korcula, yet the island itself was a beautiful place to see and wander through for a while. The wine tasting experience was a little disappointing as the speaker was too nervous to pitch the presentation well in English, and visitors didn't go into many questions to avoid extra pressure on the person. The introduced wines & liquors were of good quality though. Personally, I'd recommend a similar itinerary with a different operator and a slightly more knowledgeable guide.

Korkula beautiful but couldn't recommend - Korkula is beautiful, and the view from the bell tower is superb. The wine tasting was very enjoyable. But this was 3 hrs 45 min out of a 12 hr day. The advertised 1 hr 30 min stop at Orebic (which we had assumed was for the beach) that was part of what we'd signed up & paid for was not made, and the 1 hr stop at Ston was both too long and too short. I hr is too long for just a €4 (same price as Dubrovnik old town) coffee/toilet break. There is nothing really to see at Ston except for the wall, but 1 hr isn't long enough to go on the wall. 1 hr 30 min would have allowed time for coffee etc plus an hour on the wall (30 min up and 30 min back). And on the way back from Korkula there is a spectacular viewpoint (with good parking) which could easily have been stopped at for 5 minutes. So although Korkula is beautiful I couldn't really recommend this tour. I'm giving 3 stars to be generous.
