A short stay in Stockholm. - We spent a couple of days in this lovely city after doing a Hurtigruten cruise. It is a stunning city with lots to see. Built on 14 islands you can't help but take a ferry ride at some stage. There is a combination ferry/HOHO bus in this city as well. We usually take the HOHO bus to familiarise ourselves with a new place but in this case it was very expensive (about $62AUS), compared to other cities we had just had the same experience with - so we decided to use the local buses which was very cheap for two people to make two trips (SEK78 about $AUS11) in comparison. WE stayed more near the cruise terminal in Ladugardsgardet, in an apartment hotel called Biz Gardet which had amenities on hand but about 40 mins from the city centre. This hotel had charming staff, roomy studio apartments with kitchenettes. The Old town is wonderful to wander through, and we had a lovely lunch at Under Kastenjen (under the Chestnut Tree), which by the way was on my list of researched gluten free places to eat. A ferry ride past the amusement park from the island where the Vasa Museum (old ship) and lots of other amusement places are, to Gamla Stan (Old Town) was a short way to get out on the water and see the sights as well. Lots to see and do here, we loved it.

Easy Way to Appreciate the City on a Short Stay - For a short stay, Hop On Hop Off is the best option to see the city and appreciate the many areas inside the city. Very easy to go around the city.

Overall not bad - It's a good way to travel around the main attractions of the city..especially if you have short time to roam. Get the updated map of the route so that you could get the correct route. Initially was using the older route provided by hotel reception. The entire 20-23 stops takes approx.an hour and 30-45 mins with some waiting time at each stop.

Okay but you need to know where to stop!! - It was a great way to see the city. Would have better had they cleaned the outside windows!! Couldn't see out very well. Also the driver did NOT stop at the stops automatically and nothing said we had to signal him to stop....so we missed several stops we wanted to get on/off at. Also the driver kept turning on his music competing with the tour. Not sure I recommend the red bus in the off-season!!!!

Overpriced - Really limited information on Stockholm on the audio guide in comparison to other companies like Big Bus and City Sightseeing. We like to use these hop on hop off buses to get an overview of the city and learn some of the history but we feel like we were listening to hold music most of the time. It was also -9 degrees outside and the bus was freezing as the top deck only had a tarpaulin pulled over it. There was heat coming out of the vents but it did little to warm us. Overall not worth the amount they charged - I would have been ok with it if it was half the price but for $50AUpp I feel like I got ripped off!

Disappointed - Bought a 3-day pass. Couldn’t find bus first day and no response from customer service. Tried again 2. day, ticket not valid. Still no answer from customer service. Not a very happy customer!

The worst Hop on Hop Off experience I have ever had - I’ve been on hop on hop buses in many cities across 3 continents as this was my worst experience by far. In my opinion these tours live or die based on the route and the commentary. This failed on both counts. Add to that a driver on his phone for 20 minutes and I cannot recommend this operator. I don’t know whether the traffic was particularly light on the Saturday we went on it but having picked us up at the Ice Bar stop the bus crawled along over the next 3 stops well below the average speed of the traffic until we stopped for about 10 mins at the stop #1. Throughout this time all that we were offered over the audio was a bit of music and a welcome message – surely there was something to say at these stops, especially City Hall, otherwise what’s the point of stopping there? On top of that the system had rebooted at least 3 times along the way. Our journey carried on pretty much in the same way until we got off at Stop 11 for the museums. Along the way at best, we had been offered no more than about 20 sentences about the harbour, the Royal Palace, the museum area etc. When we hopped back on at Stop 13 (opposite stop 11) we gave up on the audio. Instead for the next 20 minutes we listened o the driver chat to someone over his phone constantly. It wasn’t the office as he wasn’t speaking Swedish or English. I thought he was talking when he passed us at Stop 11 so I wondered if his mind was truly on the job. Then just to pad the tour out and I suspect to gain krona from The Hard Rock the bus takes, what appears to be a massive detour after Stop 17 to go on a loop and eventually stop at Hard Rock. A waste of 10 -15 minutes

HORRIBLE WASTE OF A DAY! - The bus driver would not accept the Viator ticket as it had no company name on it! We wasted our one day in Stockholm! What a waste. We should have purchased from the Cruise ship. I requested a refund from Viator days ago and have heard nothing!
