Standing at 844 meters above sea level, this is one of Rio’s most renowned and demanding trails. The hike takes approximately 3-4 hours, leading you through the Atlantic forest, steep ascents, and the Carrasqueira section, where safety gear (provided by us) is required.
The reward? A breathtaking 360° view of the city, featuring the Christ statue, the Lagoon, the South Zone, and the Rio coastline!

Standing at an elevation of 844 meters, Pedra da Gávea is the world’s largest seaside monolith, offering breathtaking views of the city: Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, Lagoa, Zona Sul, Barra da Tijuca, and the entire Carioca coastline, all in one stunning panorama!
The journey: The trail features approximately 2.5 km of ascent (in total, about 5 km) and typically takes between 3 to 4 hours to complete, depending on the group’s pace.
Along the way, participants will navigate through sections of the Atlantic Forest, tackle steep climbs, roots, rocks, and the renowned Carrasqueira challenge, a brief climbing segment requiring the use of hands.
Rest assured: with the support of our experienced guide and safety gear, participants will climb with confidence and peace of mind!
