Total relaxation exists and is within reach - I had planned and researched floatation for about a year before heading here, so it wasn't so much a shock for me as it could be for others. The whole experience is so wonderful you almost forget you're in the same world as everybody else. From entering the reception area, to having a chat with the friendly owner, to going through to the floatation rooms, everything is delicately prepared and you are well informed of your time there throughout. The floatation itself takes a little time to get used to (about 5 minutes) but once you're floating it is very easy to disappear into the nothingness of the time and space around you. I found calm within the pod, which for me was one of the reasons I started researching deprivation tanks to begin with. A tip for anyone new to this, it is near impossible to drown, the salts keep you floated throughout. Also, if you're claustrophobic, the pod lid can stay open. For me the lights and music off was perfect. Worth a visit? Yes, and I have booked again for next month.

Reboot your mind and body - I have been floating several times and it always has such a positive effect on me. I go in full of the stresses and strains of everyday life, and come out feeling so much calmer. It is a real experience and the centre itself has a lovely atmosphere. You have time afterwards to chill out before returning to the real world, and if you have a friend to share the afternoon tea option together get it booked in! The first time I went I was apprehensive - what would it be like? Would I panic if it felt too enclosed and dark? Mark explained everything and if you are worried you don't even have to switch the light off unless you want to - although you definitely get more out of it if you do. It did take me a while to settle down in that first session but once I did I loved it. I would highly recommend to anyone that they try it, there is literally nothing like it for calming my head and it helped with my shoulder pain too.
