Travel approximately 160 kilometers from Bangalore/Bengaluru city to Srirangapatna, which is located a few kilometers from Mysore city in the neighboring district of Mandya. • Daria Daulat Bagh - Daria Daulat Bagh, meaning ‘Garden of Wealth,’ is a palace in Srirangapatna. Constructed in the Indo-Saracenic style, it is primarily made of teakwood. The palace features a rectangular layout on a raised platform, with its most striking aspect being the vibrant frescoes adorning the walls, pillars, canopies, and arches, all in the Mysore painting style.
• Srirangapatna - The tombs of Tipu Sultan and Hyder Ali are located in Srirangapatna, resembling the Golconda tombs with an elegant square chamber and a brick dome. The craftsmanship is evident in the intricately carved stone windows and ebony doorways with inlaid ivory. An ancient mosque is also part of the complex.
• St. Philomena’s Church - St. Philomena’s Church is a Catholic church built in honor of St. Philomena in the Diocese of Mysore, India. Constructed in 1936 in a Neo-Gothic style, its architecture draws inspiration from the Cologne Cathedral in Germany. Your private guide will offer lunch recommendations (at your own expense) during the midday break.
• Mysuru Palace - The Mysore Palace is a historic palace in Mysore, Karnataka, southern India. It serves as the official residence and seat of the Wodeyars, the Maharajas of Mysore, who ruled the princely state from 1399 to 1950. The palace includes two durbar halls (ceremonial meeting halls of the royal court) and features an impressive array of courtyards, gardens, and buildings. It is centrally located in Mysore, facing the Chamundi Hills to the east.
• Devaraja Market - A highlight of the day tour is a walking tour through the Bazaars of Devaraja Market. This market offers a glimpse into the daily life of the local people. With over 100 years of history, it is deeply woven into Mysore’s heritage. The market is a vibrant, colorful, and slightly chaotic example of a traditional Indian marketplace.
• Sri Chamundeshwari Temple - Conclude the trip with a drive up Chamundi Hills to witness a beautiful sunset and enjoy a panoramic view of Mysore city. Named after the goddess Chamundi, the Chamundeshwari Temple is perched atop Chamundi Hill. The hill features an ancient stone stairway with 1,008 steps leading to the summit. About halfway up is a statue of the bull Nandi, the vehicle of Lord Shiva, standing 4.9 meters tall and 7.6 meters long, carved from a single piece of black granite. From this point, the steps become less steep, rewarding climbers with a breathtaking view of the city.
