Highlights

Pick up from the Airport and proceed to Sigiriya

Negombo - Enjoy a cup of Sri Lankan tea or some snacks.

Pettah Floating Market - Located in Colombo, the Pettah Market is a lively and vibrant marketplace that is a must-see for anyone visiting Sri Lanka’s capital. With its rich history, diverse culture, and unique shopping experiences, Pettah Market offers an incredible array of sights, sounds, and tastes that will leave you in awe. From traditional spices to intricate textiles, this market has it all.

Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple - Situated near Beira Lake, this Buddhist temple is renowned for its religious significance and its collection of religious statues in the museum. The annual religious festival held in February, along with the scenic view of the lake, makes Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple a central attraction in Colombo.

Colombo National Museum - Opened in 1877 with just 800 exhibits, the National Museum Colombo now boasts over 100,000 exhibits and the most important library on the island. Its popularity led the Sri Lankan Government to establish a new ministerial department dedicated solely to managing the Museum.

Galle Face Green - A popular spot in the commercial capital, Galle Face Green offers a break from the urban jungle. The wide green space allows for recreational activities like flying kites and playing cricket. Coupled with the exquisite street food along the coast, it becomes the perfect place to relax before heading back to Lake Lodge for the night.

Sigiriya and Polannaruwa

Polonnaruwa - The second most ancient of Sri Lanka’s kingdoms, Polonnaruwa was first established by the Chola dynasty after their successful invasion of Anuradhapura in the 10th century. The Ancient City of Polonnaruwa is a World Heritage Site.

Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress - Sigiriya is a site of historical and archaeological significance, dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 meters (660 ft) high. According to the ancient Sri Lankan chronicle the Culavamsa, King Kashyapa (477 – 495 AD) selected this site for his new capital. He built his palace on top of the rock and decorated its sides with colorful frescoes. A gateway in the form of an enormous lion was built halfway up the rock. The name Sigiriya, derived from Sīnhāgiri (Lion Rock), comes from this structure. After the king’s death, the capital and royal palace were abandoned and later used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century. Today, Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved examples of ancient urban planning.

Sigiriya to Kandy

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - Located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, this Buddhist temple houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. The relic has played an important role in local politics, as it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. Kandy, the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings, is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the temple. Bhikkhus of the Malwatte and Asgiriya chapters conduct daily worship in the inner chamber of the temple, with rituals performed three times daily. On Wednesdays, a symbolic bathing of the relic with a herbal preparation called Nanumura Mangallaya takes place. This holy water is believed to have healing powers and is distributed among those present.

Dambulla Royal Cave Temple - Also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, this World Heritage Site (1991) is located in the central part of Sri Lanka. Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka, with the rock towering 160 m over the surrounding plains. The site features more than 80 documented caves, with major attractions spread over five caves containing statues and paintings related to Gautama Buddha and his life. The murals cover an area of 2,100 square meters (23,000 sq ft) and include depictions of the temptation by the demon Mara and Buddha’s first sermon.

Kandy to Ella

Ramboda Waterfall - Ramboda Falls, standing at 109 m (358 ft) high, is the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and the 729th highest in the world. It is located in the Pussellawa area, on the A5 highway at Ramboda Pass, and is formed by Panna Oya, a tributary of Kothmale Oya. The falls are situated at an altitude of 945 m (3,100 ft) above sea level.

Nuwara Eliya - Known as the “city on the plain (table land)” or “city of light,” Nuwara Eliya is the administrative capital of Nuwara Eliya District. It features a picturesque landscape and temperate climate, situated at an altitude of 1,868 m (6,128 ft). Nuwara Eliya is considered the most important location for tea production in Sri Lanka and is overlooked by Pidurutalagala, the tallest mountain in the country. The city is known for its cool climate, making it the coolest area in Sri Lanka.

Nanu Oya - We offer a free train tour from Nuwara Eliya to Ella, known as the best scenic train ride in Sri Lanka.

Ella Site Seeing

Little Adam’s Peak View Point - Hiking Little Adam’s Peak in Sri Lanka is one of the most epic activities to do in Ella. The peak can be easily hiked without a guide, as there is a marked path with plenty of signposts. You’ll see many other tourists on the same path, which is reassuring for first-time hikers. The peak is named after Adam’s Peak due to its similar shape, though it is smaller and less challenging. This guide will cover everything you need to know about hiking Little Adam’s Peak, including its location, how to get there, what to bring, and more.

Nine Arches Bridge - Also known as the Bridge in the Sky, the Nine Arch Bridge is a viaduct bridge in Sri Lanka and one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. The bridge’s construction is generally attributed to local Ceylonese builder P. K. Appuhami, in consultation with British engineers. The chief designer and project manager of the ‘upcountry railway line of Ceylon’ project was D. J. Wimalasurendra, a distinguished Ceylonese engineer and inventor. The viaduct’s designer was Harold Cuthbert Marwood of the Railway Construction Department of Ceylon Government Railway. The 1923 report titled “Construction of a Concrete Railway Viaduct in Ceylon” by the Engineering Association of Ceylon includes all the records, plans, and drawings.

Ella Rock - Ella Rock is a well-known hiking spot in Sri Lanka, offering breathtaking views. When visiting this stunning part of the country, the Ella Rock Hike is a must-do activity.

Ella to Yala NP or Udawalawa NP

Udawalawe National Park - Located on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, Udawalawe National Park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River and to protect the reservoir’s catchment area. The park covers 30,821 hectares (119.00 sq mi) and was established on 30 June 1972. Before becoming a national park, the area was used for shifting cultivation (chena farming). The park is 165 kilometers (103 mi) from Colombo and is an important habitat for water birds and Sri Lankan elephants. It is a popular tourist destination and the third most visited park in the country.

Rawana Falls - Ravana Falls is a popular sightseeing attraction in Sri Lanka and ranks as one of the widest falls in the country.

Galle via Yala or Udawalawa national park

Galle Fort - Located in the Bay of Galle on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast, Galle Fort was first built in 1588 by the Portuguese and extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century. It is a historical, archaeological, and architectural heritage monument that maintains a polished appearance due to extensive reconstruction work by the Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka. The fort has a colorful history and today has a multi-ethnic and multi-religious population. The Sri Lankan government and many Dutch property owners inside the fort aim to make it one of the modern wonders of the world. Recognized by UNESCO, the site is inscribed as a cultural heritage UNESCO World Heritage Site for its unique exposition of “an urban ensemble which illustrates.

Jungle Beach - If you are visiting the famous Unawatuna site, the Japanese Peace Pagoda, you are in luck. Right down the street from the Buddhist temple is the trail to the best Jungle Beach. This part seems like the less touristy segment of the beach. Follow the trail past a few guest houses and restaurants, then make your way down a mess of rocks and tree roots until you emerge with a view of a gorgeous sandy beach surrounded by jungle.

Excellent Driver for an Unforgettable Sri Lankan Journey - We had the pleasure of traveling with Parsad for six days through the stunning landscapes of Sri Lanka, and it was an experience we'll cherish forever. His professionalism and dedication to ensuring we had the best possible experience were evident throughout our journey. Parsad not only chauffeured us to all the must-see destinations but also took us off the beaten path to discover hidden gems we wouldn't have found on our own. One thing we truly appreciated was the attention to detail Parsad showed in ensuring our comfort. The air conditioning in the vehicle was always on point, providing relief from the tropical heat and allowing us to relax and enjoy the scenery. Above all, Parsad's genuine enthusiasm for sharing the beauty of his country with us was very appreciate it. He went above and beyond to accommodate our requests and tailor the itinerary to suit our interests, making every day of our journey truly unforgettable. If you're planning a trip to Sri Lanka and want a reliable, friendly, and knowledgeable driver to guide you through this incredible country, look no further than Parsad. We can't recommend him highly enough!

A great trip - We had a great experience with Manesh. He was always on time, helping us with precious insights, and making sure we are well taken care of. Always attentive, having bottles if water prepared for every trip, and cranking up the AC every time we asked him to. The car was clean and in good condition. He also prepared a nice farewell gift for us. Really 5 stars treatment. Thank you so much Manesh, and hope to see you again soon!

11 day round tour with private driver - We had booked a ten-day tour, which we spontaneously extended to 11 days. Our driver was Raffi. He was charming, rather reserved but friendly and funny. He helped us with words and deeds when planning our trip. He also always had good recommendations for the right provider for safaris or sights. Spontaneous changes were also always possible and were received with a smile. He also watched over us and warned us about bad spots or scammers. Our luggage was also looked after when we checked in at the hotel. He is definitely one of the most cautious drivers in Sri Lanka and the car is comfortable and always kept clean. We are absolutely satisfied, and the price was also absolutely fair. Note: This is a driving service only. If you would like detailed guiding during the trip, you must request this separately.

Sri Lanka round trip with Upul - We are very happy that we came across this company. Communication was cordial and completely uncomplicated and problem-free from the start. We didn't really have to do anything except express our desire to go on a round trip and see the most important sights within a week. We were then suggested a route and we agreed blindly due to a lack of preparation time and desire. We then chose and booked the hotels separately. Our driver Upul was waiting at the airport with a sign and hasn't let us out of his sight since then. Everything was perfectly organized, we just had to say "yes" when we were asked something. Upul asked us what and when we wanted to eat, made suggestions and then reserved tables along the route, booked drivers for safaris, organized companions for sunrise hikes, for a tour of the temple and always had an open ear for us. He always brought us to the table, picked us up again and always maintained the necessary distance so that the vacation remained a couple's vacation and it never felt like a third party was disturbing us. Upul is highly professional, reliable, always in a good mood, more punctual than us Germans (that such a thing is even possible) and organizes all the extra requests that come to mind along the way. The planned program can be flexibly changed if you don't feel like going on a planned excursion. Upul is courteous, always greets you with a smile and never lets you down. There was never a lewd comment, no unprofessional look, no below-the-belt jokes that you didn't want to hear, nothing ever seemed strange to us, everything was distantly professional, transparent and human. He neither talked too much nor too little. In short: A sure recommendation for friends and family and a great guy.

Excellent stay, excellent driver! - Our driver, Sujeewa, was exceptional in recommending the best activities for us, and making our stay in Sri Lanka a memorable experience. The car was comfortable, well air-conditioned, and the driving experience was very pleasant. With our guide, Sujeewa, we are safe and well advised at all times. Our family tour took us to Kandy and Sigirya, with several cultural and active stops. We will do it again with pleasure!

Laksiri, the best guide. - I contracted by email with them from Spain, giving them my tour. They were the fastest and the ones that seemed most serious to me. There were no surprises, they charged me in euros what was budgeted and gave me perfect service. Laksiri was our driver, a great guy who had traveled all over the world and spoke excellent English (he studied in England). Charming, attentive and efficient, he was very useful to us in interacting with the locals. There was no problem with the changes we made to the route and he even recommended things that we had missed. Great car, spacious, comfortable and always clean. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend this company and Asanka (our driver)! - This service was amazing! We are SO happy we decided to hire a driver for our Sri Lanka adventure, figuring out public transit and constant tuk tuks would've been a nightmare with how many miles and different locations we covered. I'm even happier we went with this company and with our fantastic driver Asanka! Asanka was incredibly accommodating with taking people to/from the airport at inconvenient times, and drove us for all of our epic 11 day trip to Colombo, Sigiriya, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Yala, and Mirissa. He was very punctual, the van was always clean, and he even gave us great insights for the best ways to approach tourist locations (including helping us find view points, arranging our temple tix for us, arranging train tix, etc.). I will be recommending to any of my friends visiting Sri Lanka to utilize this tour service and specifically request Asanka!

Amazing chauffeur service, from start until end. Trustworthy, polite and punctual. - From beginning to end, the organisation by Shiyan from Head Office, to our driver who looked after us - Ishak, were simply brilliant. They were great on price, and offered the best cars (full AC and reclinable seats), when I spoke to nearly 5 or so different companies. As you can see from their reviews, they are highly regarded, and Ishak was always early, and ready to pick us up with a big smile, and ready to educate us on sights along the way. We did airport to Sigiriya, to Jaffna, to Vavuniya, to Colombo in 2 days. Most drivers would have struggled to compress that all, but not Ishak. He never took no for an answer, and always helped me and my elderly mum feel safe and comfortable in and out of the vehicle. We had to force him to take breaks, as he was happy to keep driving unless we asked for the stop. A truly humbling experience, and I will be reccommending Shiyan, Ishak and Sri Lanka Private Driver as a company for all friends and family going forward. 6 star service!
