Diocletian’s palace is one of the most well-preserved remnants of Roman architecture around the globe. This splendid artifact seamlessly merges an extravagant villa with a Roman military fortress (castrum); it is a can’t-miss piece of history. Our exciting expedition begins by the bronze map at the promenade. From there, we delve into the substructures of the palace, opening doors to myriad secrets.
Next, we make our way to Diocletian’s lounge where you can explore ancient Roman lifestyle. Our trail will meander through the essential Cardo and Decumanos streets; these were vital routes in every Roman city. We will take in sights of the cathedral, Jupiter’s temple, the four grand gates, the statue of Gregory of Knin, Pjaca square and Fruit square. Your eyes will be drawn to Peristyle, the palace’s centerpiece, where religious activities were held.
