Setting Sail on the Adriatic

The sun was just beginning to rise over Split as I made my way to the port, the salty breeze already promising a day of adventure. As a marine biologist, the call of the sea is one I can never resist, and the opportunity to explore the islands of Brac and Solta was too enticing to pass up. The historic boat, with its polished wood and gleaming brass, was a sight to behold. The captain and crew welcomed us aboard with warm smiles, offering coffee and croissants to start our journey. As we set sail, the gentle rocking of the boat and the sound of the waves created a calming rhythm, setting the tone for the day ahead.

The cruise from Split to Brac was nothing short of magical. The Adriatic Sea, with its crystal-clear waters, stretched out before us, a vast expanse of blue that seemed to merge with the sky. As we sailed along the coast of Brac, I couldn’t help but marvel at the rugged beauty of the island, its cliffs and coves a testament to the power of nature. Discovering Brac and Solta

Our first stop was a secluded bay on Brac, where the water was so clear you could see the seabed. It was the perfect spot for a swim, and I eagerly dove in, the cool water a refreshing contrast to the warm sun. Snorkeling gear was available, and I took the opportunity to explore the underwater world, the vibrant marine life a reminder of why I fell in love with the ocean in the first place.

After a leisurely swim, we set sail for Solta, enjoying a delicious lunch on the way. The open bar was a delightful surprise, and I sipped on a glass of wine as we cruised towards our next destination. Stomorska, a charming fishing village on Solta, was our next stop. With its picturesque port and quaint streets, it was a joy to explore. I wandered through the village, taking in the sights and sounds, before heading to the local beach for another swim.

A Perfect Day at Sea

As the day drew to a close, we began our journey back to Split. The return trip was a time for reflection, the sun setting on the horizon casting a golden glow over the sea. The captain and crew ensured everything ran smoothly, their attention to detail and passion for their work evident in every aspect of the trip.
