A place like no other we've been - The ride to Plitvice is almost 3 hours from Split, but our guide made it move fast with informative narration throughout the journey. It was misty the day we were there, but it was all worth it. Every stop we made made our jaws drop further....little did we know that our guide by design saved the most magnificent scenery for last. Our jaws were on the ground! He also helped us avoid the throngs of other groups whenever possible. Stopped on the way back for lunch. I can be suspicious of these planned meal stops, but this place was wonderful and not far at all from the park, which fortified everyone for the journey home.

Would Go Again in a Heartbeat - An incredibly beautiful place on a perfect weather day, a treat for all the senses. The air smelled heavenly, the sounds of water and nature were music to the ears, the natural beaut, a delight to the eyes. Igor was an excellent guide, informative and entertaining. Great food at the afternoon restaurant stop.

Great guide! - This was the perfect size group. We had a wonderful tour guide (frank) he educated us about Croatia’s history and the lakes. I would definitely recommend this tour to others.

Beautiful, must see natural wonder - Beautiful! Heavy rain during the night and early morning made it even more beautiful and the crowds were smaller. Our guide Borna was great!

Excellent Guided Tour of World Class Park - Our group of eight did the private guided day tour of Plitvice Lakes National Park. Portal was on time picking us up, and the guide gave us two hours of Croatian history as we drove to the park. The vehicle provided was good quality and roomy enough for all of us. None of us were particularly large or things would have been tight. The guide knew every trail in the park and recommended a five mile route that covered the highlights. His plan kept us away from the crowds most of the time, but we were surprised that the total walking distance was really seven miles because it was a mile from the parking to the starting point. The park is spectacular and the color of the lakes really is amazing. The trails are wide and well maintained. Many areas were boardwalks and some trails were paved. Most of the trails had plenty of shade. The boat and tram were welcome breaks from hiking. Take your time on the long uphill hike back to the parking lot. Cash was not accepted in the park so be sure to have a card to pay for snacks and souvenirs. Visiting with Portal eliminated things that caused disappointment with other visitors. Our tickets were pre-purchased and included skip the line privileges and the guide allowed us to make maximum use of our time.

Definite must see location - This is the most beautiful place, I loved it. I would highly recommend visiting Plitvice Lakes. My only complaint would be the transport was very uncomfortable and it is at least 3 hours up and 3 hours back. There are lots of photo opportunities and the guide walks pretty fast, you may miss out on some commentary whilst your taking photos if you lag behind.

Visit to the lakes - The guide was funny and knowledgeable and I appreciated his background knowledge and jokes. The location was absolutely stunning. Only criticism was that I’m quite short, the guide was tall. He said he would set a slow pace. It may have been slow for him but I felt that I sprinted round the circuit and would have loved more time
