Highlights

Peristyle, as the central square of the Palace, intended for the Emperor Diocletian celebrated as the living son of Jupiter, finds its place among many temples. The Emperor would appear under the architrave of the central part of Protyron, and his subjects would approach him, kneeling down, kissing the hem of his scarlet cloak, or they would fall in front of him, their entire body to the ground. Peristyle is closely watched over by a 3500 old and perfectly preserved sphinx, the witness of Split’s history in making.

Split Seafood Delight with history - Lucas was a sensational tour guide. He spoke very clearly for my wife who is hard of hearing. His pace was excellent my wife was in scooter and I found the tour very accessible with just a couple steps for bathrooms. The food was outstanding especially squid ink seafood risotto with octopus. Lived Split highly recommended

Great tour with excellent wine and food along the way - Excellent evening (we did the 5pm tour) and Ivan our guide was very knowledgable and informative. This was more than an ‘old city’ tour, and the gastronomic experiences along the way were excellent, especially the Adriatic fish and meat platters at Muma’s Food and Wine and the traditional tuna and monkfish dishes at Skalinada Seafood & Steak.

Private tour with Jelena - Jelena was a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide in Split at the Diocletian castle. It is clear she enjoys telling stories about history and she knows lots of people in the shops and restaurants. I would 100% recommend her. It is also notable that this is a private tour although not advertised that way. She can accommodate start time changes and customize the tour. Viator should reflect this in the website listing.

Fun food and history tour of Split - Incredible introduction to the town of Split! Jalena started us in the market where we met some of the best vendors and sampled their local delicacies. We then made our way through town learning about the interesting history, architecture and unusual facts that make Split so unique. Along our way we went to some of the finer restaurants serving authentic Croatian food that we would not have found on our own. Jalena is so engaging and fun and has a such a wonderful way of bringing the history of Split to life. Make sure you are hungry before the tour starts, because there is so much to eat along the way! Thanks Jalena. We had a terrific day.

Do not go if you’re vegan or gluten-free - Memorable…I signed up as a vegan taking a food tour based on the online description, which include specialty diets, including gluten-free, and vegan. The guide didn’t know I was vegan, and the restaurants were not prepared. The worst experience of my life, and I think I am due a refund. I paid good money for a terrible experience. Oh, and the tour guide left us at the restaurant so he could go look for something he lost.
