Insightful and Thought Provoking Split Tour - This tour is a MUST DO for anyone interested in the history, culture, politics, and modern day complexities of Split and Croatia. We have done countless tours in Europe and this was hands down the best one we’ve ever done. Marin was incredibly knowledgeable and gave a thought provoking tour that connected the past to the present while seeing the major sights in downtown Split.

The buildings of Split now have historical and cultural significance - An excellent tour with a passionate guide. He was personable and friendly and tried to find shade for us as much as possible. His information on the history and culture of the region was extensive. I would recommend this tour for anyone interested in the past and current history of the area. It was a walking tour and some of our group of 10 found standing while listening to his information tiring but that was to be expected on this type of tour. The buildings and squares of Split have so much more meaning now that we have the historical background. Some aspects of the city, such as the Jewish ghetto, we would have missed out on without this tour.

Very highly recommend this insightful and thought provoking tour! - Wonderful insightful tour. We had heard about it and felt it would be a great addition to our experience in Croatia - and it was. We did more traditional walking tours in 2 cities in Croatia (one was in Split, the day before this tour) that mostly focused on history - which is, of course interesting. But this tour offered so much more. It did include all the historical highlights - but it tied that history into the Croatia of the two World War eras, into Croatia's time as part of communist Yugoslavia, and the war with Serbia and post-independence (the Homeland War and following), up to the present. It met all our high expecations and we very highly recommend it!

‘Controversies of Split’ Tour: A crash course in the histories informing (and dividing) Croatians today (Don’t miss it!) - Go beyond the standard tourist’s experience and get a thoroughly enjoyable & engaging take on Croatia and Split. Taboo topics and issues from the past inform and haunt all modern societies, and Marin gives a great perspective on the ways Croatia grapples with its histories, how it defines its present form, and what it needs to do to move forward. On the one hand, you’ll get a crash course in Croatia’s history guided by landmarks of Split’s old town. But this alternative tour also dives into the layers of people, histories, and conflicts in the area, and really gets into what (and who) Croatia really is today. Such an amazing tour with Marin — an engaging, passionate, and considerate guy: clearly well studied in the history and present of the region with the enthusiasm of true passion (and the skillful methods of a high school teacher!) He’s ready to take on any and all questions and opinions, and fill the gaps in your understanding of the region. You seriously don’t want to miss this! (As of July 23, they’re on instagram and facebook to book!)

Great informative tour,... - Great informative tour, presented with humour, and a balance of ideas about the history of Split. A tour not about the buildings we saw, but about the influences that have shaped Split from ancient to modern times. Really interesting!
