Pencak Silat is an authentic Indonesian Martial Art known for its comprehensive range of techniques and its origins in combat. It’s considered one of the most extensive Martial Arts systems globally!\n\nWe’ll gather at The Fish Shack Cafe, located in Broadwater Parklands, Southport QLD, approximately 10 - 15 minutes prior to 7pm on Tuesday. We’ll start with an overview of Pencak Silat, covering its history, cultural significance, artistic aspects, weaponry, self-defense applications, competitive aspects, and spiritual dimensions. This will be followed by a warm-up session to get ready for the class at 7pm. The Pencak Silat Group Class runs from 7pm to 8:30pm.\n\nParticipants will learn self-defense maneuvers that were once camouflaged as dance movements during the Dutch colonial period. These techniques are deeply embedded in Indonesian heritage and played a significant role in the country’s struggle for independence from the Dutch East Indies. By the end of the session, you’ll have gained insight into Indonesian history and acquired self-defense skills that have been battle-tested and instrumental in the nation’s liberation.

Pencak Silat Australia facilitates self-defence classes on the Gold Coast QLD. Pencak Silat is a traditional Indonesian Martial Art that incorporates a diverse range of techniques. It originates from warfare and is one of the most complete Martial Arts system on earth!
We will provide and introduction to the elements included in Pencak Silat such as the history, culture, art form, weapons, self-defence, sports and spirituality, followed by stretching in preparation for the class at 7pm.
