Additional Information

The vibrant spires of Cedar Mesa Sandstone that tower over the local landscape have led to the area being named the Needles. This remote region is nestled in the southern reaches of Canyonlands National Park, Southeastern Utah. You can reach the Needles District from Moab, Utah, with a 1.5-hour drive.

The Needles present an expansive wilderness, featuring mesas and buttes adorned in hues of oranges and reds. A vast network of trails meander through this wilderness, ensconced most notably in the midst of sandstone columns that are striped in red and white, standing over 100 feet tall. Some of the most striking desert vistas in Southern Utah are found here.

  • Please call our office to reconfirm tour the day before your scheduled tour date.
  • We advise that is you are, or anyone in your party is, over 6’2” and/or 225+ pounds to please consult the tour office prior to your trip’s departure date.
  • The Jeep Wranglers used have four passenger seats, and the guide/driver has all guests rotate seats throughout the trip. This makes it so that one person is not stuck in the same seat for the entire trip.
  • Not recommended for those with motion sickness, vertigo, etc. Due to these tours being ‘backcountry’ tours, you will be going off the paved roads in an elevated vehicle that has the clearance for these special off-road trails.
  • Things to bring: water bottle (free refills available), sunglasses, sunscreen, visor/hat, sun protection, sturdy footwear for hiking, day pack, camcorders and cameras (bring at your own risk)

Whoa! What an experience! - This is not for the faint hearted! It’s crazy wild! Elephant Hill is the gnarliest extreme 4x4 challenge ever! The rest isn’t far behind. The hike to the view is amazing. I was semi-petrified but wanted to do this and I had absolute confidence in Ben. White knuckle for me, but I’d do it again, for sure!
