Highlights
  • Shafer Trail - Your tour begins in the town of Moab where you’ll meet your professional guide, who will help you get comfortably situated inside of the off-road, 4x4 vehicle. Enjoy the 30-mile (48km) drive from Moab to Canyonlands National Park, where you’ll explore the popular Island in the Sky District with its spectacular desert scenery.

Start off atop a mesa with views looking out over the horizon before your guide deftly maneuvers the switchbacks of Shafer Trail. On this section of the 100-mile (161-km) White Rim Road Loop, you’ll make stops with very photographic vistas of the Colorado River and the view from Thelma and Louise Point.

In addition to the popular lookouts, your expert guide will take you to spots that aren’t as frequently visited, where you’ll find everything from ancient Pueblo rock art to vertical views down the canyons. You’ll learn the history of the Pueblo people who inhabited the Four Corners area, and aside from the culture and history lessons, your guide will also explain the geology of the red rock canyons before you.

When you stop for a break to take photos, venture out on one of the short trails that leave from many of the viewpoints; you’ll get a different perspective and angle for photographing the canyons.

When this Canyonlands tour from Moab is over, your guide will return you to the town of Moab to the spot where the tour began.

Awesome in every way! - Our guide Mark made this “bucket list” adventure unforgettable. Ask for Mark when booking and avoid the long line of cars getting into the parks. You will not regret it for a second.

Sight seeing with Adventure - Fantastic experience with Adrift not to missed and totally added to by our guide Karl. He took us completely off road and despite the incredibly rough terrain and sheer drops we felt safe and secure. Karl gave us great information and stopped regularly for us to enjoy the sights. This is a great tour you should don’t miss and let the experts take care of you for a day. So you can look out of the window and enjoy.

Great Views! - We watched the eclipse with Adrift and really appreciated both Mike (owner) and Mark (guide) working with us to make sure we were in a great location for viewing. I spoke with Mike a few times before the trip and he was really responsive and had a great time with Mark on the tour.

Amazing and unforgettable! - What an amazing area this is! We saw stunning scenery we could not have accessed ourselves, and learned a wide variety of things. Our expert guide Mark looked after us really well, taking into account what we were interested in and sharing lots of information and stories. The vehicle was new and very well cared for, and Mark drove well on tracks which could otherwise have felt a bit nerve-wracking to people with little off-road experience! We were asked a couple of days in advance if we could juggle our timeslot as they had a fair few cancellations due to the potential government shutdown - any risk from this was a total surprise to us as UK travellers, though we learned that the local area would most likely have funded their national parks to stay open anyway. We were very happy to be flexible to help out. Then we ended up on a private tour anyway as the other guests didn't arrive despite us waiting 20 mins past the start time. The friendly staff were completely professional with us throughout, with clear communication about where to be when and what to expect, and a determination that our trip would not be spoiled. We hope to be back again someday and would not hesitate to book with Adrift again.

4x4 adventure into Canyonlands - The 4x4 drive was scenic, and we had some impressive views as we climbed up the canyon. The guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and a skilled driver. The description of the tour indicated that we would have some short hikes, but that was really not the case. On the stops, we had beautiful views, but no hiking.
