Highlights
  • St. George - Yant Flat! I haven’t said “WOW” this many times since I listened to Dark Side of the Moon with headphones on. This remote and colorful area of Southern Utah can be reached from St George in about 1 hour/Las Vegas in 2.5 hours and Kanab Utah in 1 hour 45 minutes. The area is exceptional for both hikers and photographers and isn’t on the well traveled/photographed category of Antelope Canyon or Horseshoe Bend in Arizona. This area will reward you with the landscape images you are looking for. Constant views of Zion National Park as well as the multi colored stripes of CandyLand will keep you amazed all day.
Hike is considered moderate and is a minimum of 4 miles roundtrip to experience the area. Navajo Sandstone has been lifted up by the volcanic rock below and weathered into the well known domes located throughout Arizona and Utah. Brain rock or turtleback are some of the names given to this areas landscape but you might just be left speechless.

Wonderful - STUNNING. We went in November. There were a couple people leaving as we arrived. A couple more coming in when we left. Easy hike, amazing rocks. You can see it from above, but you really need to go down into the rocks.

A great activity for all - What a beautiful area! We were able to drive the dirt road in a sedan, so don't let that description scare you. It's a wonderful hike on the rocks. Don't just look over the edge, go over to the left and down onto the rocks and out to the large rock outcropping that can be climbed to the top. Just be sure to remember where you came down and where the trail is that goes back to your car. It was a great area to explore!

Another geological perspective - Our guide was awesome — very knowledgeable about our surroundings from the names and uses of plants around us to the history of the rock we saw, walked, and sat on. Professional and helpful, our guide made it a great memory for my husband and me!

Stunning - Beautiful views. I am new to hiking so it was a bit tough on me but I made it through. We did hike about 5 miles. I am glad I did it but it is not for newbies.
