Type two fun, but worth it. - Awesome experience but definitely “type two” fun. We didn’t see white sharks but didn’t expect to. They’re a threatened species and numbers are sadly declining. We did see tons of copper sharks which are still really cool. If you are prone to seasickness, you will get sick. I took every medicine in my arsenal and was still miserable. The cage made me the most sick since it rocks really heavily with the boat and there no horizon to focus on. The water is freezing! This has been a bucket list item for a long time and I’m glad I get to check it off the list. The crew were fantastic, kept us safe and checked in often to see how we were feeling and if we needed anything. Thank you Marine Dynamics for a truly memorable experience.

Amazing bucket list experience! - Amazing experience. Very professional team from the start to to finish. I took up transport from Cape Town to Gansbaii. They stopped at a penguin rescue sanctuary on the way and you get to learn about the rescue centre and meet some of the inhabitants. You get a light breakfast on arrival and a brief of what to expect on the boat. You will get plenty of time in the cage to view these amazing sea monsters. I had around 40 mins in the cage which is more than enough. I saw copper sharks, giant manta rays, and seals. You may also get lucky to see dolphins and/or whales during the trip.

Great experience! It’s a... - Great experience! It’s a long day but worth it. Unfortunately didn’t see great whites but did see lots of sharks, 3 enormous stingrays and some cute seals that hung out with us the whole time! Staff is extremely knowledgeable and so friendly!

Swimming swimmingly with sharks - This experience was worth the money, early morning transportation, cold water lol. I was picked up and dropped back off at the doorstep to my hotel in Capetown. The ride and pre briefing went pretty smoothly, and then it was off to the boat. After chumming the waters the beautiful sharks started coming out. I felt safe in the cage. Us participants waded in the water for the shaks to come, took a deep breath, and pushed ourselves under water to see the majestic sharks close up. You’ll get a full wetsuit with hoodie, booties, and googles which you’ll need to see under water and brave the cold water (about 12C with our experience). No O2 tank or other scuba equipment given/needed. We saw some seals, and a large group of Dolphins on the way back to shore. Truly an unforgettable experience for sure!

Great - Have your swim wear on from the start. It will save you having to change clothes an extra time on the boat.

A unique experience for adults and kids! - A big THANK YOU goes to Marine Dynamics and the team. We had such an amazing trip - from a warm welcome, professional safety briefing to a great day out on sea with wonderful sightings. Any and the team really went out of their way to make us and our kiddies feel comfortable on the boat. Highly recommended!

Tourist catch - We took this tour on May 18, 2025, attracted by the promise of an encounter with the great white shark. The result: a waste of time, money and huge disappointment. It all starts with two wasted hours: a stop imposed in their souvenir shop (on the pretext of visiting a “penguin sanctuary”), then a long wait in a room of no real use before embarking with fifteen teenagers who were going to participate in the tour and who were extremely loud, out of control and disrespectful. But the worst is yet to come: their website highlights the sighting of great white sharks, which is, in practice, totally false. At the briefing, the official suggested that there was a good chance of seeing them. Once there, no white sharks, as they descended into the cage, the visibility was catastrophic. We had only had two stealth apparitions of a bronze (copper) shark fin, visible from a distance, just a few seconds. They also claim to act in a scientific and ecosystem-friendly way, claiming that they do not feed sharks. The reality is quite different: from the start of the trip, the team repeatedly throws fish remains and blood to attract the animals, which completely alters their natural behavior. Sharks normally hunt only at sunrise and sunset. There, they are conditioned to come near the boats to beg for food in broad daylight. It is a clear disturbance of the marine ecosystem, under the guise of ecotourism. Once inside the cage, visibility was zero. The water was cloudy, saturated with blood and waste, it attracted more seagulls and small fish. There was absolutely nothing underwater except suspended organic matter. The promised “shiver” turns into ridicule. Organization? Catastrophic. We were the first ones called down and had chosen the right side of the cage (the one with the most movement), but the person in charge arbitrarily moved us to the other side to install a couple of Americans. As a result, we were next to the point of dumping waste, covered in fish oil, with a sickening smell. Finally, it was impossible to appreciate anything on board: a group of teenagers screamed non-stop, frightening the few sharks present. Despite several comments, the team did nothing to crop them. No educational discourse on sharks or marine life was given, although it is part of the service. The pick-up was at 8:50 and we were dropped off at 6pm in the evening. Basically a wasted day! In summary: no white shark, no immersive experience, no ecological awareness, no respect for customers. This trick is a commercial masquerade, which capitalizes on false promises and stages a pseudo-science to give itself good conscience. I strongly advise against it.
