• Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve - Located within a 2-hour drive of Cape Town, Aquila Private Game Reserve offers a safari experience with mountains and landscape views. The reserve boasts an outdoor swimming pool and an on-site spa.

Decorated in an African style with wooden furniture, each unit at Aquila features an outdoor shower and is equipped with a fan and a minibar that can be stocked on request. Some units offer a private patio/balcony offering views of the reserve.

Meals are included at Aquila, which features a triple-volume buffet restaurant with an upstairs viewing area boasting scenic views of the Karoo mountains. There is also a pool bar and cigar lounge available for drinks and snacks.

Home to the ‘Big 5’ wildlife species, guests can enjoy scheduled morning and afternoon safari game drives within an open 4 x 4 safari vehicle, which are included in the rate. Horse-back and quad-bike safaris can also be arranged.

Aquila Private Game Reserve, named after the endangered black or Verreaux’s eagle (Aquila verreauxii), began its journey in 1999. Its founder, Searl Derman, was inspired by his love for wildlife and aimed to bring the Big 5 back to the Western Cape for Cape Town to enjoy. He discovered an ideal nature reserve, which would eventually become Aquila Private Game Reserve.

Located in the historic town of Touws River, nestled in a valley between the Langeberg and Outeniqua Mountains in the Karoo, this 10,000-hectare conservancy has transformed from hosting only various antelope species to being the habitat of the Big 5 – elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino, and leopard – along with a diverse range of other wildlife that roam freely across the reserve.
