Experience Cape Town like a local with a private guided tour. Explore the city's highlights, from Table Mountain to the V&A Waterfront, and enjoy a flexible itinerary tailored to your interests.
Duration: 8 hours
Cancellation: 1 day learn more
Highlights
 • Table Mountain - Start your private tour with a pickup from your Cape Town hotel, and then travel into the center of town by air-conditioned minivan. As you travel, chat with your guide about the city and the attractions that you want to see; the itinerary is flexible and can be tailored to the sights you want to see.

Perhaps start with a cable car ride up Table Mountain, the city’s famous UNESCO World Heritage site. The ride is at your own expense and subject to good weather conditions, but once at the top, the views are magnificent. During July/August the cable car is closed for about two weeks for annual maintenance, but the hiking trails remain open.

 • Signal Hill - Alternatively, skip the ride and travel up Signal Hill by minivan. The hill is a classic Cape Town vantage point and a picturesque spot for ogling the city and beach vistas.

Return to town for a walking tour around Cape Town itself.

 • Company’s Gardens - Wander past Company’s Gardens, a colonial-era park boasting a pretty Rose Garden and large fish pond. Walk past several sites linked to the city’s tenuous history with slavery such as Slave Lodge and the Old Slave Tree, and gaze at top Cape Town attractions including the Houses of Parliament.
 • Greenmarket Square - Greenmarket Square and St George’s Mall are also worked in to your route.
 • Noon Day Gun - Return to your minivan for a visit to Noon Gun
 • Bo-kaap - Stop for photos by the candy-coloured houses, and hear how the district has changed from a shanty town to a vibrant city neighbourhood with a melting pot of cultures.
 • Victoria & Alfred Waterfront - Enjoy a break at the V&A Waterfront for lunch and perhaps a boat ride around the harbour (both at your own expense). After enjoying some free time, meet back up with your guide, and then relax on a scenic drive alongside the Atlantic coastline.

Watch the waves crashing against the jagged shores, and pass through swanky neighbourhoods such as Clifton or Camps Bay. Your tour then finishes with a drop-off at your Cape Town hotel.

 • Africa Select Journeys - This is a private tour running exclusively for you and/or your group. You can request changes to the itinerary after your booking, to ensure you only travel to the highlights you prefer to see.

Great city with fantastic views - Cape Town is beautiful. The drive and walk around the many neighborhoods was great. We had time on our own to shop and enjoy the waterfront as well as take the cable car for amazing views from Tabletop mountain.

Cape Town Day Tour with Liezel - We had an awesome day tour with Hotspots2c! We wanted to start off with a day tour around the city for our first full day in Cape Town and this tour was the perfect choice. Liezel was an amazing guide! We learned so much about the city and were able to pack so much into one day. We only wish we could have had Liezel with us for the rest of our trip!

Please read - If you’re looking for a mediocre tour guide then go somewhere else. Liezel was absolutely incredible and you need to book with her. This was our first experience in Cape Town and Liezel helped us feel right at home. She was very educational (history of Cape Town, geography of Cape Town, culture, etc). She was very accommodating (bought us drinks, very patient as we stopped from place to place, always made she we were comfortable when riding in her vehicle, made sure we saw what we wanted to see). She was very pleasant (respectful, polite, well spoken). I could go on and on. Basically she was the best tour guide we’ve ever had, and we travel a lot. If you’re in need of a tour guide, and a new friend in Cape Town please please please book with Liezel!

Early on our first full day in Cape... -
Early on our first full day in Cape Town, we met our tour guide Eon hotspots2c. Susan found him thru rave reviews on Viator we have used them extensively in numerous parts of the world and requested him by name for a private tour of Cape Town, South Africa SA. Eon is a native Capetonian and has a gregarious personality that shines through in sharing his love for his homeland. We had done our research as to some places to go, so Eon made sure that he matched the tour to our specific interests. We went to Table Mtn early, so we wouldnt get stuck in the long lines later and Eon answered all our questions on the flora and fauna there. Spent quite a bit of time running around taking photos of dassies and sunbirds and of course the view! Then headed over to Kirstenbosch Gardens and the boomslang, a fairly new addition for the 100th anniversary of the Gardens. Its a canopy walk thats shaped like a serpent, meandering high up in the canopy of trees. We were lucky enough to have found male and female spotted eagle owls resting in a tree while at the Gardens. Very cool! Saw the V and A Waterfront next. At the V and A, Eon took us to an inexpensive market that had all sorts of edible goodies, from biltong and kudu jerky, to SA beer, to smoothies, to chocolate covered nuts. We would never have found it on our own! Then on to the colorful Bo Kaap area with its gaily painted houses and flowers. You can't get a better private tour than this one, especially if Eon is your guide.

Terrific private full day tour for... -
Terrific private full day tour for my husband and myself, reasonably priced, with Eon as our guide. I highly recommend him. We only had a couple days before our cruise so we wanted to maximize our experience. He arrived on time and in addition to suggesting key area highlights, as this was our first trip, but he made sure he took us to where we wanted to go, as opposed to just following a set route. We started with the Table Mountain gondola on this glorious day and beat the crowds, then went to see the noon gun go off on Signal Hill. Eon even knew from which angle and when to get the best photo. He also took us to colorful local neighborhoods and gave us a great overview of the city in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. Then on to Kirkenbosch Gardens for a walk and lunch. He really knows Cape Town and was also willing to openly talk about local culture and political issues, which we are always interested in on our tours. He inspired a desire to return to Cape Town and do more tours in this fascinating area. Five stars plus!
