Insight to a modern and Victrlorian prison - Fully worth the additional cost. You will find out things you wouldn’t know if you did it on your own. Guide knowledgeable and experienced. This gives a real insight into the life’s and deaths of the inmates. Eerie, emotional and an unexpected trip. You could be here for 3-4 hours

Well worth a visit - We enjoyed our guided tour of the prison very much . We were going to just book an entry ticket but so glad we did the guided tour as our guide Cameron was so knowledgeable & made it very interesting . so much detail. It was fascinating to hear the history of the prison & the spooky stories.

Great Tour, super interesting - This was a great tour, I loved how much you could roam the prison on your own after the tour finished. Jason was really knowledgeable and entertaining. Highly recommend.

Overnight stay behind bars - We had a brilliant overnight stay behind bars. The staff were excellent throughout and really welcoming. They explained everything before showing us to our cells which we could stay in for the night. We then had Jeremy the tour guide show us around and explain the history behind the prison. He definitely made the experience better as he was brilliant at going over all the past events and was really approachable if we had any questions. We could ghost hunt, get a cuppa in the reception or go to bed if people wanted too. Really enjoyed the experience and would do it again!

Amazing - Me and my friend done the night behind bars and we absolutely loved it!! Jenny was lovely and so were the other staff that were there to help throughout the night. Our tour guide Jeremy was amazing, he knew all the history of the prison and made the tour very fun and spooky! Would definitely recommend

Shepton mallett prison - What a fab tour didn't know the history and it was fascinating and so well presented by our guide. Didn't get his name but he is the 6ft 3 guide!!! Very entertaining and lots of stories about the characters and ghosts 🫣 felt quite eerie in certain places! Respect to the guide he made it very enjoyable.

Excellent Guided Tour - Very good, informative and interesting guided tour covering the history of the prison from inception to closure and visiting the most interesting parts of the prison - a very knowledgable guide took the group round. Once the tour has ended, you are free to wander at will and learn a bit more about individual prisoners of the past through information boards. I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

100% worth paying for - We also did the guided walking tour, and it was absolutely worth paying for. You get so much more information than you would if you were just wandering around on your own. The guide really brought the history to life and shared stories and details we never would have discovered otherwise. We enjoyed it so much that we’re already planning to return in the summer with our four children (15, 13, 9, and 6). There’s a great offer running where one full-paying adult can get two children in for free (and under 5s are free), which makes it even better value for families.

So worth it, fascinating and entertaining - We had a guided tour with Jason who was entertaining, knowledgeable and engaging. Highly recommend. Great overview of the history, life for the prisoners in the far past and recent past. He also was sensitive to the suffering inmates experienced. Went with a 12 year old through to 75 year old and all loved it.

Good fun and great history! - All was really good, Esther was very good, funny and a great story teller. A bit of the tour was spoiled here and there by other guests but that's no fault of Shepton mallet prison!
