The National Library “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” is the largest book repository in Bulgaria. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the library’s interior.

Sofia is a city with a rich and ancient history, ranking among the three oldest cities in Europe. It has been part of the Roman Empire, the Bulgarian Empire, and the Eastern Roman Empire. After the 14th century, it became part of the Ottoman Empire. In 1879, following Bulgaria’s liberation from the Ottoman Empire, Sofia was designated as the new capital of Bulgaria. The heart of Sofia, where the two main streets of ancient Serdika, “Cardo Maximus” and “Decumanus Maximus,” intersect, is included in the Historical and Archaeological Reserve “Serdika - Sredets.” The town of Serdika, also known as Serdnopolis, was established 2,000 years BC by the Thracian tribe Serdi, who settled near the hot mineral springs. In the 1st century AD, the Romans conquered the town, valuing its strategic location and mineral springs.
