The initiation of Italian settlement in Santa Catarina occurred around 1835, spreading across multiple areas. During this excursion, we’ll explore the history and development of these settlements.
São João Batista: Our journey begins in this quaint municipality, renowned for its significant role in the footwear sector of South Brazil.
Nova Trento: Established by settlers from the Trentino Alto Adige region. Discover its key sights, including a quaint family-owned winery offering exquisite local fare, the Immigrant Museum with its impressive 8,000-item archive. As a notable spiritual destination in Brazil, Nova Trento is home to the Sanctuary of Santa Paulina, the first Brazilian saint to be acknowledged by the Pope in 2002. We will tour the complex and the Basilica. A lunch with a sumptuous traditional Italian homecooked buffet awaits us at a countryside estate. Post-lunch, our adventure continues to Brusque, known for its pioneering role in the textile industry. We will indulge in some shopping before making our way back to the accommodation.

Italian view - I expected more, there are few restaurants and the shoes are large stores with the normal brands of the Brazilian market
