Highlights
  • Bener - Our journey begins in the tranquil town of Prambanan, located just northeast of Yogyakarta city.

This bike tour offers a blend of Sport, Heritage, Culture, Nature, and Local Life.

We’ll start cycling from the northern part of the Prambanan Temple complex (outside the Temple) on a flat route that takes us through picturesque rice fields and small villages. Our first stop is a beautiful hidden gem temple that combines Hindu and Buddhist elements. We’ll admire the view from outside, but entrance is also possible if desired. Next, we’ll visit local homes to learn the traditional process of making one of Indonesia’s iconic foods, “emping chips.”

Our journey continues to a tofu-making home industry, where, if we’re lucky, we can taste fresh tofu and soya milk.

Afterward, we’ll visit a stingless beekeeping site, home to small bee species that produce high-quality honey. Here, we can taste pure honey.

This marks the end of our trip, and we’ll cycle back to our starting point.

Note: For groups of at least 6 people, there will be an additional stop to see a “Gamelan instrument” performance.

Lovely cycle away from the city - The cycle tour was such a nice experience! It was nice to be away from the busy streets of the city center and each of the stops offered something interesting and new. Bagus was a friendly, patient, and informative guide and the whole staff was very welcoming and helpful. Great value in comparison with other cycle tours I found.

Much recommended cycling tour - The bike tour was fantastic and much recommended to do. Very educational and in a short time you will gain better insights into rural life around Prambanan. Alga is a pleasant and sympathetic host and his own story about how he eventually started organizing cycling tours is also admirable. very worthwhile

Bike tour for the whole family - See with your family, the other Java, local people show their craft, during a nice bike ride. 2 hours is exactly long enough for our baby, toddler, 9 year old and 2 adolescents. Everyone enjoyed it. We felt very safe. And the Guide can tell wonderfully.

Fantastic bicycle your around local villages - We had a fantastic bicycle tour around local villages. The guide was super nice and professional and gave a lot of insights. Our kids enjoyed the tour as well and it was very safe. The visit of the tofu production and how local crackers are made, was impressive. I liked the most that it didn’t feel at all touristic as many other tours. Thank you for the great day!

Local, cultural, lovely tour! - Amazing! We felt super safe with the extra guide on the motorbike who stopped traffic when we had to cross roads. The guide was super kind, patience and had a lot of time for questions/pictures etc. What we really liked was that this tour got us of the beaten track, we experienced real local businesses and not tourist traps. Also all locals were so happy to see us and always waved, smiled and said hi! We really enjoyed the trip, highlight of our Java trip so far!

A unique way to explore the region’s cultural heritage and natural beauty - The bike tour by Mas Alga was one of the best tours I took in Yogyakarta. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the area, providing fascinating insights at every turn. The highlight of the tour was undoubtedly Candi Plaosan (Plaosan Temple), a stunning historical site that left a lasting impression. The journey itself was delightful, offering breathtaking scenery as we pedaled through picturesque rice fields and charming villages. The serene landscape and the fresh air made the ride both relaxing and invigorating. Mas Alga's expertise and enthusiasm added a special touch to the experience, making it not just a tour, but an enriching adventure. I highly recommend this bike tour by Mas Alga to anyone visiting Yogyakarta. It’s a unique way to explore the region’s cultural heritage and natural beauty.
