Additional Information
As a group of woman-only, charitable volunteers residing and working in Sitka, the New Archangel Dancers have been spotlighting Alaska as a tourist hotspot since 1969 by imparting their understanding of Sitka’s Russian history and their Alaskan pride.
The rise in accomplishment and fame of the Dancers has been boosted by frequent guest appearances at the inaugurations of new terminals for Alaska Airlines, at Alaskan Governors’ initiation parties, and at multiple dance fests, tourism expos, conferences, and public gatherings. Besides performing across the ‘lower 48,’ they have also showcased their talents to receptive crowds in Hawaii, Japan, Russia, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

High-Energy and Fun Performance! - The New Archangel Dancers put on a fantastic half-hour show that is well worth the price of admission. The group does not hide the fact that they are enthusiastic amateurs who all have other jobs-the ticket sales support the production costs and the dancers volunteer their time. The dancers were uniformly high-energy and entertaining--and for amateurs, I thought they were also pretty skilled. The emcee told short stories between dances as the dancers changed costumes offstage, and the stories about the history of the dance group, their training, and the assembly and maintencance of their colorful costumes were engaging.
This performance added a lot to our Sitka experience, and it was a great complement to the other activties we did.

Worth it - Amazing fun dances. Everyone was so passionate! Fun stories between each dance. Beautiful and authentic costumes.

Great performance - Absolutely some of the most beautiful costumes. The story telling in dance was full of joyful expressed emotion.

Outstanding Value! - The New Archangel Dancers and Folk Show had outstanding production value considering they are all volunteers with other jobs. The dancers were very enthusiastic and entertaining as they performed their various Ukrainian and Russian Folk dance routines. I liked the dance stories which were presented in a n entertaining and humorous way. The emcee of the show in her outstanding attire was humorous and informative as well. The period clothing and costumes were very colorful and top notch, and added to the overall experience. It is clear they love what they do!
The New Archangel Dancers are not professionals! As a non-profit, volunteer dance troupe the performance was well worth it. At $15 a ticket it was easily the best value of our entire Alaskan cruise.
